    A half sample would be expected for at least the braggot. I'll be driving anyway, so it'd be for the better.

    ...that's one hell of a paddle by the way.

    Aren't the sample glasses either four or five ounces?

    I'm baaaaack.

    No one cares at all, but basically:

    Raspberry Eisbock >> '11 4D > TRIPA > BB4D > Foreign Export Stout = Conundrum

    Yes. I preferred the '11 4D to the BB4D... by a decent margin.

    Detroit BBQ Company was also there and I got some pulled pork which was so tasty it didn't need any BBQ sauce. I hope to go back soon.

    I had this same sensation. My friend thought I was crazy. I've got a few bottles of the BB4D and this experience makes me want to age them for sure now.

    Cracked a couple 04 4Ds (not barrel aged) and they are outstanding still. It ages extremely well.

    4D = solid

    BA4D = epic

    Just my opinion though.

    Both are excellent without a doubt.

    I just figured the BA4D got rid of the flavors that I liked so much in the '11 4D.

    If I were to ever get a bottle or two or three, I'd age it for awhile.

    I cracked an 04 4D last Sunday and it was terrible! It had completely oxidized and tasted like cardboard. It was properly cellared in this guys wine cellar since he bought it. I do love aged 4D, but this bottle was LONG GONE.

    I don't think that beer had any chance to be good after about 2007.
    Get a few of those situations and a few of the "I liked it better fresh" and you really start questioning the whole "cellering" process and if its worth it.

    Personally, I wouldn't let a beer that I bought sit longer than two years.

    No.

    I've found that I prefer an RIS or barleywine that's about two years old over one that's fresh. I also suspect I'd prefer that '11 4D over '13.

    I've opened 6 '04s in the past 2 years, one of which was opened in line at 12 kbs release... all were big hits. It is kuhnhenn we're talking about, not exactly a model for consistency.
