I haven’t tried it, and most likely never will unless I am at some sports or music venues and have no other options. Very poor opinion of Heineken, and their base beer already to even bother with something 1% lighter.

Some ‘interesting’ consumer comments in that article:

“I fear this is the future of beer now, woke options aimed at Generation Z rather than traditional beer lovers who have been drinking it for years.”

    And:

“This is just woke madness. Beer should be traditional.”

Perhaps this beer will be more popular with its target market (i.e., Gen Z)?

If British beer drinkers desire to drink lower ABV beers I would recommend they drink some British brewed Mild Ales but since those beers are not lagers they are likely not desired by the Gen Z crowd?

    Cheers!

    @Shanex -- 44 is old in Europe? :thinking_face:

Seriously, many of the quotes are from "punters" of this age.

And really, this is now "woke?" Jesus, the world really is spinning off its axis.

The life expectancy of most Europeans afaik range from 80 more for men, and 83 for women so 44 year old is barely middle age. Not old.

Nah, the older geezer Brits. :stuck_out_tongue: meme and GIF was just banter as usual from me.

Seriously I don’t really care about Heineken Silver but my last visit in the supermarkets it was being put on shelves like this was the new big thing, which it seems to be.

I’ll just keep an eye out for any newer craft.

So... Heineken's entry into whatever the industry calls that low carb/low calorie lighter-than-light segment - Michelob Ultra (there's a second one, too, right?), Yuengling Flight, Corona Premium, Modelo Oro, etc.

Nevermind they already have Heineken Light and 0.0.

And the Light is 3.3 ABV, IIRC, so I imagine the Brit howlers would LOVE that.

It sure is 3.3%, which is why I was perplexed. But I assume Light isn’t sold there?

For what it’s worth I don’t mind Heineken, Heineken Light, or even Heineken 0.0. Don’t read into “I don’t mind” too much though, I don’t recall the last time I’ve had any of them.

How is that "barely" middle age? 88 is way past average life expectancy

    " Woke options " lol.

Hope they get a POC with dyed hair to advertise the beer. Then those guys will really be squealing.

I'm all for lower-abv session beers, but this particular one seems kind of pointless. It's only a 1% difference and probably tastes exactly the same. The U.K. already has countless other and better quality low abv options.

Right, but based on the interviews it sounds like no one is drinking (or respecting) those either. Are these the "lager louts" from the past who have grown old and crotchety?

I don’t get the uproar, it’s not like another IPA being introduced to the market.

    Enjoy

On a cruise ship two years ago Heineken was available on tap. It tasted like a typical German Helles beer, or at least in that field of quality beer. I was stunned by the taste after years of trying the stuff from the green bottles here in the US that was not great.

I've had very fresh Heineken (their regular beer) from time-to-time and been very amazed at how good it can really be.

Can't remember the last draft I had, though.

The 0.0 surprised me. Not enough to pay the price for a 6pack but the single bottle was nice.

I was enjoying the 0.0 when it first came out -- then they jacked up the price. Then I noticed it had more carbs (my reason for drinking light more often than not) than the Light. Go figure.

Which is sad because an 3-4% English dark mild ale on cask is one of the most beautiful and delicious styles of beer on the planet.
