Has anyone else seen this priced so low? I couldn't resist and picked up 5 cases to hopefully last a good part of the summer.

Nothing. I repeat: Nothing is $13.99 a case in my area. Not Coors Lt. Not Bud. Not Natty Ice. I may not have bought 5 cases but I certainly would have picked up one or two.

At that price, I would be weary of the date they were bottled.

I thought the same thing, so I opened one at the store, and it smelled fresh, tasted fresh,.....it is fresh ;)

damn! Are you sure it's not a store pricing error?

2 years ago I found 4-packs of Petrus Oud Bruin for 4.99 each.

Edit:JoeyBeerBelly beat me to the punch.

I'd be just as excited if it were $13.99 a 12-pack here. I never, NEVER buy by the case, in this *case* I'd buy two

270 likely means the 270th day of 2012 as we are not 270 days into this year. No wonder they were a steal...
If it's still tasty though, score :)

It appears that your beer was bottled on Sept. 26, 2012 (the 270th day of 2012).

    Cheers!

So that explains the crazy price. But it is good to see distributors/stores mark down old stuff instead of just letting it sit around for eternity.

Why? He liked the beer and that is all that matters.

Does OP know case is 24 not 12?

The 12 pack is that price around here, I haven't actually seen any 24 packs of Lagunitas around my area. If he does know its 24 then that is a smoking deal and grab a few more if it's not old!

8 month old Pale Ale is still infinitely better then your other options at 13.99 for a case.

Stores around me have six packs at IPA's that were bottled in Jan. of 2012- they are full price. Kudos to any store that actually prices some product to move.

I did get a case of Lake Louie IPA last fall for $15, same type thing- it was about 10 months old but was still tasting fine.

Lagunitas doesn't sell New Dogtown in twelve-packs.

Ok makes sense now, 270th day. They are cases, not 12 packs. Am I crushed? HELL NO. Still tasted like a solid APA, and honestly for $13.99 a case who can complain?

FWIW - I saw Saranac Red IPA for $5.99 12-pack at Amity in Woodbridge on Saturday - not sure why, but I didn't buy it... - that would be $11.99 case!

Correct you are, checked my local shop online just now. I thought I saw one at the local shop but it must have been another Lagunitas 12 pack next to the dogtown display.

Lagunitas seems to do a really decent job in keeping as much oxygen out their bottles as possible. As long as they aren't a grassy/metallic/musty mess they should be enjoyable.

8 months old isn't THAT old for an APA. I'd buy a case or two at that price for tailgating this summer. Nice find OP!

I tend to be a freshness stickler with hoppy beers but some of them hold out like a champ. I had some Port Mongo that was bottled a year and a half ago, tasted like it was two weeks old. But then Bell's Two-Hearted falls off within a month (to me anyway; but I love it fresh).

Good find! Drink the shit out of that shit OP! : )

I doubt the New Dogtown they sell here is much fresher, maybe a month or so, and it still tastes great. Only here it's 3.2 bucks a bottle. So it sounds like quite the deal.

In early April I got a case of Founders Pale Ale bottled in October 2012 for $15. Meh. I wouldn't repeat the purchase, for personal consumption at least.

About a week later I bought 5 cases of Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout for $15 each. I wish I would have purchased more.
