Randomly poured at Eureka Burger in Fresno, quite the tasty tropical DIPA, 9.2% deftly hidden. Try this if you see it around, have no clue about this beer's story.
This beer was excellent. I had several last night, unbelieveably good actually, best beer they've ever made. My dad's name is Waldo, so it was extra better due to the x factor.
Had it last night at EB as well... After trying it I texted a few friends to rave about it and get them over to try it. Its really danky and resinous, just my style of DIPA. Can't wait to try it again.
Apparently it's their 4/20 special beer. 4/20 is like a holiday to them at Lagunitas. It's around my area, I'm sure I'll try it soon.
Yea, forgot to mention, 4/20 is why it was there yesterday and what the beer was based on.... Dang, I wish I had one right now... might have to jump in the car right now!
I had two pints on Friday at my local spot and loved it. Lots of super dank resinous hops and super drinkable at 9.6%, it's not quite as dry as a typical west coast IPA so the bitterness doesn't kill your tongue after each sip. Pretty excellent stuff.
I had a few pints on the 19th at a spot that apparently didn't care about the whole 4/20 thing. Delicious beer indeed.
How does it compare to the SF Fusion at Beer Week? That's probably the best beer I've had from them yet (and one of the best beers I've had, period!)
I had Waldo's and Fusion V (if that is the beer you are referring to) side by side. I preferred Waldo's. Fusion was much too sweet. Almost tasted like a thin Brown Sugga. To the OP: Waldo's is very good and if it was bottled it would be in my fridge a lot. I don't think it is as "dank" as advertised though.
had it at kennedy's in SF on 4/20. they also handed out the twinkie gift kit. very tasting brew. was able to have a couple pints prior to my departure back to boston.
Yeah I think the Fusion V and the SF Fusion for beer week were 2 different beers. The SF Fusion was an amazing DIPA - huge tropical fruit/blueberry aroma, sticky pine, and solid citrus bitterness. Superior to Younger when I tried them side-by-side at 3 different places.
The SF Fusion was made specifically for SF Beer Week and used the new experimental hop 369 which gave it that incredible blueberry aroma and taste. Vinnie from RR told me he was really excited for a new beer they have coming out that uses the same hop.
I had Fusion at Lags during SFBW... nice beer as well! I so happy that Lags has gone this direction with their recent IPA's (Lags Sucks, Fusion, Waldo's). I cannot drink their regular IPA which is what turned me off to them a long time ago, but with these beers and Hopstoopid it's been a wonderland.
I had waldo right when it was tapped on 4/20 and it was amazing. They also gave out a ziploc baggie with whole leaf hops and a twinkie to the first 25 customers.
