Lakeview Chicago Liquor Store

    I will be staying with my brother in the Lakeview area of Chicago and I need to know the best liquors stores around to buy beer. I have been to Binny's a lot, but I was wondering if there is a place that is better.. Any recommendations will be nice. Thanks!

    West Lakeview Liquors is the only thing superior to Binny's as far as liquor stores go. As far as bars goes, it really depends on where you are in Lakeview. Local Option, Bad Apple, and Fountainhead often have excellent draft lists, but if you're limited to the immediate vicinity then you might have to settle for Sheffield's, Northdown, Bar on Buena, Guthrie's, or Goose Island - Wrigleyville.

    Bad Apple...damn fine eats/beer selection and it's right across the street from Half Acre. Win-win.

    I will for sure be hitting up West Lakeview Liquors. I love Binny's and excited to see a place on par with it.

    I'm sure 'Ski meant no disrespect to Northdown, rather that the OP will only be limited to only a few places and wouldn't be able to visit a wider variety of places that we love including Northdown.

    West Lakeview Liquors is a much smaller independent shop, but it packs quite a big punch. They just got some nice bottles in this week including 3F Oude Gueze (375ml & 750 ml) and Oude Gueze Golden Blend (375 ml). Great selection and good people.

    Yeah - that was more that Northdown is actually in Lakeview while the other bars mentioned are 'near' Lakeview. Also, they have a smaller (albeit extremely well-curated) draft selection - lots of neat bottles though. I love Northdown, and if you need veggie/vegan eats it'd be my top recommendation.

    One of my favorite stores is Capones...not quite Lakeview as it's a little farther west, but definitely worth a drive/trip as they always have a really solid selection. Also today they have a customer appreciation event with breweries pouring and it's for free...details are up on their FB page.     Absolutely amazing bar with probably the best bottle selection in the city including Cantillon, 3 Fonteinen, and many many more. Also they usually have like 30 beers on draft including Zombie Dust currently. Also should note their food is spectacular and I believe they've been featured on Food Network for their mussels.

    It's been significantly more bearable since they expanded. While it still takes a while to get a drink at the bar you can at least get a table these days.

    I will be showing up at noon, and requesting a table for 11 on Nov. 1st...for the whole day. It's going to be a shift, but we are all mentally prepared. The server last year told us we "Made her months rent for her"...
