An even crazier note about last night, Vinnies kid, named Elijah was THERE. I literally drank PW/Niche Elijah's Revival out of a pipeworks snifter at Niche with the kid that the beer is pseudo named after.

    Shit was nuts.

So kind of in the Anti Hero category of IPA...
Everyone nowadays is making 7.7% beer and calling them them IPAs.
If I were PWs, I'd leave NvU alone. We already know Beejay thinks it's perfect. Haha! I'd sell that beer in 4 packs and charge whatever is you need to. Then drop a single IPA on us that fits that single IPA category later on. No one in their right mind expects to get 72oz of NvU for $9.99. I'd happily pay 12/13.99 if that's a price tag that PW can live with.

noted. I think that's probably the way to go... quintessential/standard issue/ubiquitous would probably fill the 'lower' abv super hopped beer roll perfectly at that 6x12 9.99 spot...

is it too early to line up for FOBAB tickets?

also on the topic of lower ABV IPAs, here's my two cents: make one and call it General Issue IPA. Put it in a sixer of camo cans and you'll sell the shiz out of it to our Armed Forces as well as me.

Oddly enough, I never got to try quintessential. Be glad to pour my first from a can though.

Y'all are friends of Spitefuls, right? Any plan to run over and steal some of those Dorodo hops they've been using? They are BOMB!

You really should check out black shirt brewing. They're doing great stuff. Especially their barrel stuff. And super nice guys. You'd get along great!

Plus it's on within blocks of Epic and our mutual friend.

    January 17, 2014 Update

    S'more Money S'more Problems
S'more Money S'more Problems came out of the brain of Friends With Benefits member Keith Lonergan. With Keith's help we mashed this behemoth in with copious amounts of chocolate malt, roasted barley, golden naked oats and crushed graham crackers. Then, after primary fermentation was finished we added cacao nibs, vanilla bean and natural marshmallow flavor. The resulting beer is a big, chewy, dark nectar reminiscent of our days in Cub Scouts; sitting around the campfire, drinking imperial stouts. Great now or after a prolonged camping trip in the back of your termperature controlled bottle camp site.
    $10.99, 22oz, 10% ABV

Hey, Careful Man, There's A Beverage Here
"Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not Mr. Regular Stout. You're Mr. Regular Stout. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, White Stout, or uh, Milk Stout, or El White Russian Imperial Stouterino if you're not into the whole brevity thing." We aged this White Russian inspired white stout with cacao nibs, vanilla bean and cold pressed ipsento coffee. The beverage at the end of this process is beer that could turn anyone concerned with style categories into a nihilist. It is amber in color but has aromas and flavors of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, caramel and sweet malt. Delicious now or to cellar until Walter agrees to roll on shabbas (and that will be a while).
    $10.99, 22oz, 10.5% ABV

    Pipeworks Deutsch Hopfen
The latest edition of our series of Imperial IPA's is Deutsch Hopfen. Unlike the previous beers in this series Deutsch Hopfen doesn't feature one hop but rather several new breeds of hops from Germany that were hand selected by our friends at Hop Head Farms. We used Polaris, Huell Melon, Halllertau Blanc, Mandarina Bavaria. As a result we have a beer with German influence unlike any German beer you've ever had. It is a lighter Imperial IPA loaded with honey dew, canalope, tangerine and delicate floral aromas and flavors. Drink early, drink often. $10.99, 22oz, 9.5% ABV

S'more Money S'more Problems and Hey, Careful Man, There's A Beverage Here are available for pick up at Binny's Lincoln Park and West Lakeview Liquors immediately. Pipeworks Deutsch Hopfen was distributed today so please call ahead to confirm that they are in the system for purchase at both locations before making a trip.

    On the Brewing Horizon:

    Ninja vs Unicorn
    - Double IPA
Pipeworks Simcoe - Imperial IPA featuring Simcoe Hops
Blood of the Unicorn - Imperial Red Ale
Beejay's Weirdo Brown Ale - Imperial Brown Ale featuring Nelson Sauvin Hops
Game of Jones - Imperial Milk Stout with Cacao Nibs, and Vanilla beans added

Just added a splash of rittenhouse to the last small pour of s'more money....I think I might be onto something. Pipeworks, you need to put this in rye whiskey barrels to cut the sweetness and make it extra yummy.

I was able to get my hands on a HCMTABH and oh mercy is it fantastic.

My fiancé doesn't care for stouts but she had a sip and said it might be the best one she's ever had and mentioned me getting another bottle of it to share.

Seriously this is a great beer. Need to get some more.

I have little to no doubt that they can put out a tasty tasty stout; the only thing holding me back is the body in them has always been lacking. Has this been fixed yet?

Got a chance to talk to Beejay at Artists n Ales last weekend and just wanted to let everyone know his beard is fake and made of roasted kale like most of us suspected.

Great guy tho, very friendly considering I was probably one of the hundred giddy PW super fans he talks to at every event. And wow the TNA was roasty, toasty and utmostly- delicious
