I was in Toronto recently and went to Bellwoods. Their Skeleton Key stout WOW’D me. One of the best stouts I’ve ever had.

Brau Brothers Maple Bacon Bancreagie, Peated Scotch Ale, 7.5% ABV

I bought a 32oz grumbler of this beer, had been in the grumbler for a month, and paid $1 including the flip top bottle. They wanted to clear out their cooler. I figured even if the beer sucked, I got the bottle for $1 - but the beer was incredible. Didn't really taste like bacon, more like hickory smoke.

I have one of these too, not a style I drink and it has been gathering dust in cellar. Thanks for your review, I need to try this one soon!

Definitely CBS. I usually end up disappointed with hyped beers, but not when it comes to CBS, it is truly fantastic. Balancing such a complex stout so well is a true achievement.

I'm not even that much into lambic, but I also really enjoyed 3F Hommage recently. Not that complex, but very well balanced and subtle. Very enjoyable.

I tried Prairie Dawg Mexican Pancakes and was blown away, then we tried Wham! Beerly Departed and holy crap was that even better...

All the single barrel Dawg beers have been great to outstanding IMO

How do they compare to Bourbon Paradise, BA bomb and Vanilla Noir?

Haven't opened Bourbon Paradise but FIB compared to Pirate Paradise is really close, coconut is not a s prevelant though. I feel like all of them have great adjunct flavors with muted barrel components. Reminded me of More/Ram stouts.

The cinnamon in both Mexican Pancakes and Wham was done perfectly IMO. All flavors described are there without being overpowering.

It seems to me that if customers accept the word "Session" as meaning lower ABV then it becomes a viable marketing term whether technically correct or not.

Yeah I passed on this beer many times because I was so eager to drink parabola, anniversary blends, helldorado and stickee monkee. I still have a sucaba from 2015 I will try soon.

I cracked my bottle of Trillium Tiramisu last night and was blown away. It is definitely a sweet stout so not for everyone, but its one of the best beers I've had in a long time. great vanilla, coffee and a sticky sweetness. Topped with an unreal aroma, it smelled like I was in an Italian bakery with disarono all around. Very impressed.

This one was just an amazingly well done barrel aged stout. Incredibly balanced and easy drinking. Had no clue how great it would be, but couldn't find more at the store.

Lord Hobo's Glorious. I have come to realize I enjoy beers featuring Galaxy hops (Terrapin has one I really enjoyed and I recently had another that I can't think of). Since this is a New England style Pale Ale featuring Galaxy hops, this may be a new favorite for me.

We reviewed the Funkwerks Deceit on the latest episode of our podcast. It was a limited run golden belgian aged in rum-barrels. Amazing smooth, beer. Smelled a little funk, but the taste is a bit like honey with a rum aftertaste. We got it from Tavour...but I really don't know how much is available.

Revisited Guayabera this year and really really liked it. A lot of flavor in a more modest ABV.

How much chili? I don't usually like pepper beers but i was intrigued. Store has it as a 4 pack and I keep wishing I could just get a single and try it.

The chili is pretty subtle IMO and you really just taste it on the back end. Nice mix of sweetness and a touch of chili which is why I love the beer. I don't think you will be disappointed but if you don't like pepper maybe just pick up some of the regular Biscotti Break.

Agree completely, not a big chili beer fan myself but this one is fantastic. Peppers don't over power it. So much better than the plain Imperial Biscotti Break (which is a fine beer).

My most recent one had to be Alvarado Street's Motor Oil No.2 Stout. Practically tasted like a raspberry fudge brownie batter.
Other than that, blackberry parfait by Fieldwork definitely gave me the wow factor.

This is from a few days ago, Old Nation Tart Strawberry M-43. This one was much better than I had expected. A wonderful NEIPA with a slight sour citrus/strawberry finish.

Weihenstephaner and Sierra Nevada's collaboration Braupakt was a very very pleasant WOW for me. Gorgeous hefe in the glass, with all the classic notes Weihenstephaner does well, but brighter and more citrus with the American hop additions. Probably pick up another 6 pk if I can this weekend.

This thing. It's a double IPA made by Tsypa in Ukraine The name of the beer is Tsypa-220, with 220 also being the IBU number. I wouldn't place this anywhere near my list of best DIPAS, but I really respect a brewery in Eastern Europe brewing something so bitter (while still tasting pleasant), and keeping it under 10% ABV.

With the CBC in Nashville a few weeks ago, all kinds of fantastic breweries and beers poured into the city that aren't normally distributed here. Thanks to some well-connected and generous bottle shop acquaintances, I got a chance to try an array of beers that have long been on my wish list. Two stood out as very much worth the hype: Surly Todd The Axe Man IPA (truly remarkable) and Lawson's Finest Sip of Sunshine (all-around excellent).

In addition, I recently did a beer-centric guys' trip to the Grand Rapids area with a dozen college buddies. Standout beers during our travels included Founders Dankwood (truly unique) and just about everything I had at Odd Sides Ales in Grand Haven (but especially Hazel's Nuts, which was phenomenal).
