Meaning you are a bigger fan of Beachwood? I've only had their beer a couple times and I was blown away by it. Fantastic IPAs but I can't get them in Ventura. Otherwise I might anoint them Kings of LA IPA.

The beer buyer at one of my locals in Oxnard was down there for the bottling on Friday and brought back 7 cases. They lasted a few hours on the shelf I think. I was happy to get my hands on one for $12.99. It's a giant boozy bitter floral dank hop soup. But if you're into that, try to find one. Cheers!

Recently, I drove a good 3 hours to get back home because a local pub was doing a founders takeover, and had KBS. Really great stuff and lived up considerably to its hype.

Opened the new Boulevard Imperial Stout - Coffee. So good. I downed this 750 within the last half hour. Smooth stout with a great coffee flavor (and coffee "bitterness").

Had a couple in the last month. One was Jackie O's Bourbon Barrel Black Maple. Another was Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout. Both were served up at the Jungle Jim's Barrel Aged Beer Bash in Cincinnati and both were easily in my top 5 greatest beers to hit my lips. I thought the Great Lakes Barrel-Aged Blackout stout was excellent. Recently had Gigantic Brewing's Pipewrench IPA aged on Gin barrels that I definitely said WOW... Wicked Weed out of Asheville makes some great beers as well and I just tried their Genesis Blonde Sour - tasted like a sour Fruit Roll-Up and was terrific.

Mine would be Hop JuJu by Fatheads... I had the "juicy" version two weeks ago and while it was good, it didn't blow me away. The normal version, however... What a beer!

Great Divide Oak aged Yeti, I finally broke down and tried it in direct violation of my "No Bomber" policy. Life is short and this beer is great. I don't know if it is available in other formats but I would definitely put this in the 4/6 pack rotation in my fridge!

Wow a no bomber policy would keep me from trying nearly all of my favorites unless I saw them on tap.

A Deal With The Devil b1 was a pretty 'wow' experience last week.

Also had three Berliner Weisses from a homebrewing friend who only brews that style, plain, raspberry and peach. The peaches were from my yard. All three versions were fantastic, pro-quality.

I've had a pretty solid beer week with a first try of both BCBCS and Parabola (both definitive WOWs) but last night I had a 2 month old bottle of Two Hearted with a great pizza and I can't remember the last time I've enjoyed a beer so much - WOW. Just a nice little personal reminder that sometimes the right beer at the right time is just as WOW worthy as the big hitters.

I recently discovered a brewery from Gainesville, FL called Swamp Head. They make a fantastic oatmeal stout.

For a bigger name, I finally tried Hopslam last week and it is worth every bit of the hype.

Recently had a friend give me some beers from Chaos Mountain in SW Virginia. I wouldn't call all their brews awesome (I particularly disliked their IPA Mad Hopper), but they make some sick Belgium beers with Agents of Chaos aged in red wine barrels being my favorite. But the one beer that really stuck with me was a delicious DIPA called Ultimate Warrior which my friend was able to get me a growler of (I don't think they bottle it as of yet). I'm looking forward to trying some more of their stuff in the future.
