2014 Oblivious by Griffin Claw, it tasted like a glass of figs and I love figs.
i had alpine nelson, duet, and hoppy birthday (most recent batch from green flash) and i thought "WOW, thats fucking horrible, you guys fucked up every single beer"
Agreed big-time on the former - easily the most surprised I've been by a beer in a very, very long time!
Should have had MILF ( by Mothers Milk) for the ménage
Brouwerij Alvinne Wild Undressed.
Victory Kirsch Gose.
Not that it's super complex, or dark and mysterious, just exceedingly refreshing, great idea to combine cherry with a Gose. The ideal after lawnmowing refreshment.
2014 crowler of Siren Noire BBA... mouthfeel was shocking
I know, I know, I'm way behind thc curve getting around to trying this one, and I expected to like it, but not as much as I did. Now if only I could try some variants. *sigh* haha.
Also Hammerland IPA from El Segundo, I got it in a trade, had never heard of it and thought it was pretty great.
Imperial Stout X: Coffee - Boulevard Brewing Co.
SP Thicket was earth shatteringly good...loved it.
My first Triple Digit Chickow! One beer for me that actually lived up to its hype.
Hop Dogma - We All Grin for Lupulin
A truly exceptional IPA from a small brewery on the coast...their first bottle release. Hopheads in the SF bay area need to pick this up. This is better than anything else on the shelves right now...I'm really hoping they keep this up. It's cloudy as hell and probably the most flavorful and bitter IPA that I've had in a long while. Really great all around.
Anti-Hero from Revolution Brewing in Chicago was awesome, IMO. MA got a shipment after EBF so I'm glad I got to try it.
Whoa good: Ballast Point Victory at Sea Horchata and Alpine Nelson.
Whoa bad: Mikkeller's US Alive.
Elysian jasmine ipa was my latest whoa good beer was really impressed! Cheers!
Black Berry Albert from Struise. Had it recently at a bottle share and it was fantastic!
Just recently had a fresh DFH 120 Minute. I have not had this beer in years. It blew me away.
With all the KBS hate (and I admit, I'm not the hugest fan, myself), it's refreshing to hear a new voice to the brew proclaiming that it impressed the hell out of you. That's awesome!
That's high praise from you. I've only had it once, on tap, during a beer dinner. I recall it being quite good, but the setting wasn't right to really evaluate it as a Pilsner.
OP: Nearly everyone is going to post their latest "Whoa: awesome!" brew. That's why I came to this thread, and it took Tyler's post for me to realize that I had misread the premise, as well!
I can't stop coming back to this thread to see people STILL responding incorrectly to the OP. You guys make me smile.
Jack's Abby barrel aged framinghammer! Awesome!
Generally speaking green tea beers seem to be a thing now. Stone has one, Nightshift does one.
Both are decent samples of their time and well made beers, I just don't like them at all. A bit too astringent.
Am I missing something? The OP- @Jeffo sounds like he is talking about a new brew he likes...rating it @ 4.42. But ultimately just asks the question " what new brew / brewery has gotten your attention?" To me that sounds like you could post good or bad but the OP was talking about a brew he liked in comparison to the rest.
My original intention was for people to call out stuff they liked. A positive thread, thus. People might interpret it differently though, which is all good. Just have fun and post your experiences!
EDIT: What I find more amazing is that this thread is coming up on its two year mark. Cheers for participating everyone!
Leon b2, and Peche n Brett from logsdon. I could not believe that beer is 10%!!
Stillwater Mono Pilsner. Need to find more.
Been a few weeks since I've had it...but I'm still thinking and talking about it so that should say something...
BA Flying Mouflan
peche mortel. Had the best coffee flavor of any beer ive had
I had Southern Tier Choklat on tap the other night. Then I had some more. The stuff is like liquid bakers chocolate which is a huge win for me. I usually am not a huge fan Southern Tier but this was a home run for them.
18th Street Hunter Coconut was amazing
Substance - Bissell Brothers. this beer was really good nice hop profile and was very crushable for 6.6%
This is totally my bad. I posted my comment in the wrong thread. Must have been one too many beers for me that night!
Well, only a newish beer (2009), but I'm drinking a three-week-old Torpedo, much drier and far more bitter than the old and sweet (but delicious) strawberry jam Torpedo we usually get in this country (though when older it's much easier to drink).
Got to try the Brandy Barrel Aged Hunahpu's: Here is my review of it!
Barrel Aged Peche Mortel gave BCBCS a run for its money..
Also Tree House Green.
Wrong. The OP was about good beers. Someone threadjacked it a few pages back.
Also, my latest wow beer was Sip of Sunshine.
Smutty Nose Baltic Porter- creamy, chocolate, smooth. Almost like a milk stout but not as sweet
Lagunitas Equinox- One of the smoothest most baanced beers I've had in a while
Honestly...it's random. I had Clown Shoes' Undead and I really was like "wow", that is totally good...so that's the one...nothing too special, but it fits the criterion...it's certainly not a whale...more like a giant sunfish...
