Chasing beer karma is not the way.

Personally my drinking habits haven’t changed by a iota, I drink many regulars, getting the Poo-bah status involved many trades, online orders and scouring for new beers. And some either half arsed reviews or better ones. Lots of posting too.

Enjoy BA as you see fit and no one will look down on any Crusader or Junior if those are a thing here.

Yeah, one of the reasons Koch's first contract-brewer was Pittsburgh, as he explained in an All About Beer article (no longer online):
Apparently also why when Miller was contract-brewing some BBC beers, it was only at the now-closed Eden NC brewery and briefly at the Tumwater plant (purchased from Pabst in '99, but soon shuttered), which were then set up differently than the other Miller facilities.
But again "...that page is kinda pre-craft era centric...".

Since the topic of the CO2 shortage came up again in the "Beer News" forum, I figured I'd also post this snip from 1901's 100 Years of Brewing here, too.
Looking for the above "Carbonization" jpeg I previously created on that topic, I found this one, too, of 2 brewers' ad which called collected/injected CO2 "natural":

I'm interested in Pooba as well one day, so far i've been pretty lax with my rank, and have mostly used Beer advocate to know what's going on with craft beer (as well as check and see if a beer I might buy is any good.)

So question for you- what is the easiest / fastest way to climb the ranks? more reviews and posts? I probably review a beer only once every couple of weeks on average.

The details of the methodology of gaining karma points is a secret around here. So I can't say it's the easiest or fastest way, but I notice my points go up whenever I add or rate/review a beer or place. Other than that, I'd say just keep participating.

Assuming this is an honest question, if you have a list of 10,000 beers to drink and you drink one, you tick it off the list. It's that simple.

Completely agree with @PapaGoose03, I'd attained "poo-bah" before I was even a consistent reviewer. But I was adding places, beers, pictures, etc., while rating beers.

No, we're not drunk. We're just a bunch of nice guys who welcome a newcomer to the club.

Actually by the time that you attain poobah status you've aged enough into maturity that you realize afterward getting drunk does too much harm to your body so that you quickly learn to stop doing it.

Yeah, that one's on my KRAEUSENING webpage which zid was referring to. And Heileman used the term repeatedly in some ads  as well as on the label.
Once Heileman disappeared in '99 when it was just a subsidiary of Stroh, Pabst bought the brand and moved the brewing of it to Miller. (IIRC, Pabst for a time had Special Export contract-brewed at City, the original Heileman brewery but I don't think that was ever the case with Old Style).

In 2009, when Pabst, still under Kalmanovitz Charitable Trust ownership, announced Old Style was going to return to being kraeusened, but also would move into the "premium" price segment. Don't know its status these days. With Pabst moving their contracting to City (owned, in part, by Pabst execs), seems likely it will again come out of the Lacrosse brewery.

Heileman with its Old Style ad campaigns was probably the most notable promoter of the process in its marketing area - while in the northeast that would have been Schaefer or Genesee or, in a smaller distribution region, Matt's Utica Club.

I didn't say it was good, only "famous".

Only time I recall being there was in the early 1970s (at the start of my diner fandom), when it was still a classic diner not one of these modern monstrosities. So, still the older diner as illustrated in this Baeder painting.

Had it - but a shot of penicillin cured me and my skin cleared up in days.

Do you mean "kräusen"? As a noun, the word refers to the "rocky head of foam which appears on the surface of the wort during the first days of fermentation" (Dictionary of Beer & Brewing, Assoc. of Brewers) while "Kräusening" is "the process of adding a proportion of active wort to cellar tanks containing fully-fermented beer." (Anchor Brewing).

I'll probably never make poo-bah. I started too late, and there may be something in my character or fate that precludes it. Still, I drink a lot of beer... My own personal entrance to poo-bah might close before I can get through...

I think of the last paragraph of Kafka's parable "Before the Law":

The gatekeeper sees that the man is already dying and, in order to reach his diminishing sense of hearing, he shouts at him, “Here no one else can gain entry, since this entrance was assigned only to you. I’m going now to close it."
