Looking for some suggestions for places to drink and places to buy beer to go. Probably staying in Frankfort. Any info helps!

    Cheers

Also curious about food recommendations. Fried chicken or anything local to the area.

Louisville: Holy Grale, Louisville Beerworks, Against the Grain
Frankfort: not sure but ti highly recommend a tour of Buffalo Trace

If you want to make the 20 minute trip to Lexington I'd go to:
Country Boy Brewing, West 6th Brewing, Lexington Beerworks. Beer Trappe and if you want to buy beer Shenanigan's.

The information on this thread about Louisville is still current:

I work in Frankfort and I don't know of a bar or restaurant with an interesting beer selection. The best beer store there is Red Dot Liquor. Nothing unusual, but if you stay nearby it may be worth a stop.

The best local dining in Frankfort during the day is Rick's White Light Diner. I never understood the charm of listening to Rick's opinions while I ate though. [Edit: Saw on Yelp that prices are jacked up there. I haven't been in a while.] The best restaurant for dinner is probably The Grey Goose in nearby Midway. Limited good beer options there, and a scenic little town.

Your options are much better in Lexington or Louisville.

If in Midway, go to Heirloom for dinner.

Thanks to those who helped; had a great time thanks to your recommendations! I was on the road and had limited access to the internet, so searching past threads wasn't really an option, sorry dudes.

Went to Holy Grale for some beers. Stopped by Liquor Barn, which was an awesome place and had some food at Chicken King.
