Admit it. Many of us grew up drinking this style. I have fond high school memories passing around the 40's with my friends, still wrapped in the brown bag. What do you think of it now? Do you still drink malt liquor once in a while? What are your favorites?

I bought OE once to mix with OJ(brass monkey).

I don't think I've ever had a malt liquor otherwise.

I've never had any before. I was looking at them in the liquor store today, but the fact that I could get 40 oz of beer at 10.2%abv for only $1.89 made me nervous. And the fact that I have a feeling I will regret every bit of those 189 cents spent.

Hand grenades and OE 40s. I'm sure I would say fond memories if I could remember those times.

Edward 40 hands! How could I forget....actually I forgot most of that night.

This was almost my exact response.

We should probably grab a beer sometime. Not a Micky's grenade but a punk show sounds awesome.

I've been known to pick up a tall can of Mickey's to pair with Chinese takeout from time to time. There's just something about it that works.

Steel Reserve on occasion when it's a couple days before payday and I need something. For a malt liquor, not bad at all. Tried Schlitz Bull before, and I suspect that drinking iodine would be just as flavorful.

I've tasted it but never drank a bottle of any size. Certainly never paid for any.

Dogbite and Colt 45 are what I`ve had. Woo-eee, interesting stuff to say the least, but honestly I`m unsure if I actually would pay again for those. Guess I don't really have a go-to malt liquor. I`ll wait for braver days.

My thoughts exactly. Edward 40hands with the "loser" having to take a shot of something gnarly out of the bottom of the liquor cabinet.

Aside from that mess, I drank my weight in Mickey's once on a visit to a friend going to school at Virginia Tech.

<---- avatar. My roommates and I went through two cases when the Red Sox won in 2007. We maintain that that's why they won.

It's been a few years since my last 40 though. I do occasionally look longly at the case when I'm in the store, but some things are better left in the past.

Schlitz and Colt 44 are the only one's I drank, but that was back in HS.

Mickeys and the big green bottles are the only way to go.

You should have gone with the Colt 45. It's one degree greater.

Been a long time since I had a 40 dog. Olde English (64 oz jug with the handle? - yeah buddy!), St. Ides, Crazy horse, Midnight Dragon, Colt 45 and Colt 45 Double Malt were all favorites back in the day. I keep seeing Steel Reserve in the stores, is it worth a try?

I didnt grow up drinking, period. Didnt drink any beers until I was in my mid 20's. I know thats weird but what can I say. I was a nerdy teenager who never was in trouble and to me drinking malt liquor was something that the "bad kids" did.

I would try Cornballer if they ever bottled it. The new season of Arrested Development seems like the perfect time to release it.

I've kind of retired, but I am holding out for agnostic front, sick of it all, and am thinking about the upcoming ST show.

Can't say I've ever had a bottle of malt liquor. No real urge to try it either. I was a spirit drinker as a teen.

It's always been around (bottom right), the owner of the brand - Ferolito, Vultaggio & Sons, best known as the owner of Arizona Iced Tea - simply changed the name to one less objectionable.

The contract brewer, Stroh/Heileman, was the company that apologized for it - two years after they went out of business.
