March 10th lunch time bottle share at Monk's in Philly

i'm sure you probably already have this covered, but just in case not --- never seen Monk's be okay with opening outside bottles. If you haven't talked to Tom yet, please do.

 

I can try to meet up, but as Lauren said I've never seen them allow bottles to be opened that they didn't sell.

 

Are you planning on stopping anywhere else?

 

buuuuuuut --- and probably better: the bottles they sell are obscene. '04+ LP Geuze, '05 LP Kriek, Fou Foune, etc...

 

Any places may be okay with bottle sharing if you talk to them in advance. I can't think of any that you can just walk into, though, in Philly with bottles, without talking to them in advance and getting permission. Except where you're going later that day. ie, see you then =)

I have a friend that lives in the area, I will talk to him about having a gtg there and I also know a few good byo's in the area that allow outside beverages.

 

Definitely ask ahead of time - and if it's cool, be sure to offer pours to the bartenders and owner. I've had some success with that approach...

 

Pretty sure there is a BYOB right across the street from Monks. Dont remember the name, but I'm sure someone has it.

Yep, that's the place. Not sure about hours, but the food was great the only time I was there, and they had no problem with us popping bottles from across the street.
