Is there anything remotely worth checking out for Beer around here? I think I'm going on a short business trip in a few weeks.
That's what I figured and feared. I'm hoping there will at least be a liquor store that sells something decent that I can't buy from my area.
If you get in a chance take a trip to Gella's in Hays, their brews are solid. If you passing through KC or Wichita you'll have some good to store's worth hitting.
Wichita KS is a bigger city that is close to McPherson, look for any local liquor stores and see if they have: Boulevard (Kansas City MO) Smokestack Series (Tank 7 Saison, Long Strange Triple, The Sixth Glass (quad)) or their regular beers- 80 Acre Wheat and Single Wide IPA are my faves. Tallgrass Brewing - IPA, 8 Bit Pale Ale, Velvet Rooster, Oasis (Tall 16 Oz Cans! Boo Ya!) Brewed in Manhattan KS If you are looking for taps, Boulevard Wheat is a staple and it's a good solid wheat. Not as good as 80 Acre but a solid brew that is popular for local tastes. Their Pale Ale is also a solid APA, Wichita KS has two brewhouses, The Firehouse in "Old Town" and Granite City which is a chain out of Minnesota. Firehouse is local and has some solid brews and great Pizza. Granite City has a great menu and a decent IPA. Depending on their seasonal selection, you can get surprised here as well. Your best odds are for a Boulevard. Enjoy!
You mean River City? I have lived here for ever and have gave that place many chances it sucks as does Granite City. Pick up Free State if your headed this way too
