It seems that the varieties to the Mikkeller Spontan Series as well as any other beer they make is utterly endless! Most (if not all) of the Spontan Series is listed on here as unique beers. However, how many of those have actually been bottled? I am not able to find a definitive list anywhere online.

The purpose of this posting, is so that we might have a complete/semi-complete list for anyone collecting them or just wondering what is out there! So, if you are seeing this, please comment with any Mikkelller Spontan beers that you have had, or even seen before in bottles so that I may be able to compile a list that I will then post here.

This list also includes variations that are soon to be released/newly released at the time of the original post. All variants on this list have been double-checked to make sure at least one bottling of said variant has been done

    * - Label images exist but cannot find any pictures of bottles themselves
** - New variant coming to bottles soon if not already in them somewhere in the world at the time of post.

The newest to be released. I do not believe any further have surfaced in bottles other than that recently.

    I've had the following:
    Spontanredgrape: 4.4
    Spontanmandarin: 3.5
    Spontanpeach: 3.25
    Spontanlingonberry: 3.64

I guess I thought redgrape was good, but the rest are sorta marginal.

Also, isn't the Whitegrape the same thing as the Riesling? I'm pretty sure it's the same beer with 2 different labels. Same goes for Noble and Sauternes.

I believe you are correct with Sauternes/Noble but not sure about Whitegrape and Riesling.

I actually recently picked up a Polly 2 which is Young Spontanale aged in Sherry Casks to correspond with Stella 7 which is Old Spontanale aged in Sherry Casks. The latter I don't have. I love how he has special beers for his two girls.

    Quick question:

The bottles I have all read "Brewed & Bottled by Mikkeller at De Proef Brouwerij," or "Brewed by De Proef Brouwerij."

I thought I also read somewhere that they get the wort from other lambic producers.

So... Does De Proef brew the base lambic and then Mikkeller oaks it and fruits it at De Proef? Or does Mikkeller get wort from some other lambic brewer and then mature it at De Proef?

Dr. Lambic says, "The base for all of Mikkeller’s spontaneously fermented beers is brewed and aged in barrels under contract at De Proefbrouwerij," but doesn't cite a source. Maybe that's the real truth and the idea that it's blended from multiple producers is just legend.

Ironically enough I've read this article before myself. Mikkeller being a gypsy brewery doesn't have an actual brewery other than Mikkeller San Diego which opened this year. On all of their bottles it will say brewed by/at "insert name here." Most of them are De Proef in Belgium but some have been done by Lervig in Norway. I know De Proef does most if not all of their beers now and that the Mikkeller San Diego line is it's entirely own entity with different packaging for its beers.

As far as where the base lambic(s) actually comes from, I have no idea and have heard both accounts which you mentioned in your comments.

Haven't had that one but was wondering when we'd start seeing it in the states. They announced it a few months ago. I'm actually planning to take a nice photo of all the ones that I have currently and then start drinking them over time. Would love to do one big tasting but I really want to enjoy these. Will probably post here when I have the photo.

About to drink a Spontancarrot tonight. Cheers! Where are you located in Ohio? I frequent Columbus area. If you're around those parts, we should meet up sometime in 2017 for some Spontan sampling!

I think I had a small taste of that one but not enough to log it as officially had. I'm about 2 hours north of Columbus currently. If it ever worked out I'd maybe be interested in the potential for that to happen. It will probably take me over a year to get through them all haha. Will try to share them all with my fiance as she enjoys them too.

Holy fish sticks. Nice collection. What's your favorite?

I've always wanted to try more of these, but have only had three. I picked them up whenever a bottle shop put them on clearance. Another bottle shop has about a dozen varieties, and they have been knocking down the price recently.

Damn I want a shop that knocks the price off of them haha. My favorite that I've had (since I clearly haven't had most of these yet) was easily the Cherry Frederiksdal on tap at Mikkeller Bar in San Francisco. Will be interesting to see how the variants of that stack up!

@DominicOH I rarely see this stuff on tap, if ever. I would probably try more if I found it. The cheaper prices are still right around $10 for the 375mL. Not exactly the most expensive beer, but not the cheapest. The part that really keeps me from diving in is once I start the series, I'll be driven to try more and more.
