I think two waves would work, first give everyone XX days to buy with equal allocations to everyone. That ends and then whatever is leftover can either be "re-allocated" equally in the second round, or it can be a first come first serve for the "leftovers" up to a certain number of bottles.

I'm really much more of a stout/dark beer person, so being allowed to buy more (of those type for me) in a second round would be a good thing that I would take advantage of. I probably wouldn't go second round with sours/lighter beers, while others might prefer more sour/lighter beer purchase power, etc., so it could all even out.

If you just upped the initial allocation and it was first come first serve then you'd run the risk of people not getting any of having to do the F5 thing, which kinda negates a big benefit of the league.

I dig the idea of a second wave, this allows all member to equally participate first, then allows other to buy additional bottles once the initial dust settles.

P.S. Half the reason I am saying that is I would love the opportunity to purchase more bottles once all member have had a shot but prior to having to battle the public offering.

A second wave of League sales before it hits the public would definitely be sweet, both for this sale and in general/ongoing terms.

I can already hear my liver screaming and waving the white flag if there is enough bba monsters park to do a second chance for league and then public....the pain...such delicious delicious pain.

This is spot on for me as well. The fact you dont have to stress about getting shut out of sale is such a huge plus for the league.

I think the 3L staying with members is a solid look, not selfish at all

When you decide what time for the second wave to launch let me know. I'm into the idea of buying so many 3l I have to make multiple trips to the car...

Alright, seems like we have a rough consensus here. Second wave it is. I'll send a League email at 10am tomorrow to raise 'em. Still no need for a mad rush; plenty for everyone. We'll see how this one goes, and take it from there.

I'm sure there's no non league members chiming in, but seems like a bummer for people who aren't in the league who might miss out on your awesome beers, just so that people who already have some get more. Just an outsiders perspective. (Ready for the hate ha-ha, just to reiterate, I love your beers and you guys Rock!)

Neverwhere and Symmetric Orchestra are almost certainly going to make it to public sales considering how much they made (even with a second chance for the League), and I wouldn't be surprised to see Funky Monster's Park go to the public sale as well. 3L bottles of SO might all get snapped up, but realistically, the public will probably get a crack at two of the beers, if not all three.

Only pointing out things people on the "inside" might not think about. Outside business is also important for growing a business, just food for thought. Being from MI I'm going to have 0 shot at these beers anyway, but friends in California who make the drive from out of the area for the nicer bottles would maybe think twice about coming to spend $ at the taproom if the league snatches up all or most of the limited stuff before they get a chance. Spreading the good stuff out more vs loading up locals also spreads word of the great things they're doing at MT.

Sorry to keep the great sweater debacle rolling but can anyone confirm if the league zip ups fit the same as the current mt zip ups on the website? (THESE ONES) I got to try on a friends XL tonight while out on the town and it fit well but reapers measurements wouldn't work for me at all. Really agonizing on if I should size up or not.

Totally understand your perspective and I would guess most people on here do, too. It's definitely a balancing act, but right now my focus is on ensuring the value and specialness of League membership. We've put a ton of work into the care and feeding of this thing, and I feel like making some adjustments to the game plan to ensure a little exclusivity is the right thing to do. But as @Xul pointed out, there is still a 100% chance of bottles being available to the general public at 10am on Monday.

But I definitely agree with you on the value of getting some of the beers out there to help spread the word. I would just prefer that it were happening mostly via special events (beer dinners, tap takeovers, anniversary parties, etc.) versus online sales.

    Cheers & thanks,

I think it's great that you want people who forked over the money to get as much as you can give them for it, but it isn't like the club took a day, or even an hr to sell out. A lot of people got shut out because they don't now how to script a refresh or they F5'd a nano second too slow. Those people were probably pretty bummed about that, and I bet those people will be doubly bummed if they miss out on public sales too.
    Just another angle.

Totally get where you're coming from. I think the reality is that no matter what I set the bottle limits at in this sale, there will still be a public sale and the same is probably true for most bottle sales, at least until the League expands, at which point the F5 problem should be less of an issue.

    Cheers & thanks,

Having had both back to back, I'm disappointed that City of the Sun is going away for a year. Nothing against Booming, but City is simply phenomenal. Having said that, I'll gladly drink Orderville in its place. Bring on the peaches

So, public sales start on these tomorrow at 10am, right?

Will the limits for the public go back down to the 3/6/6/2 or stay at the doubled 6/12/12/4 levels?

Wait for the email imo. Just like last time MT sent out the email right as they went on sale to the public.

Remember, these aren't just a bottle release, these are additional bottles that were left over from a league exclusive release (funky MP, 3Ls, and I think 1 more...regular SM was never tagged as exclusive). Public should be happy they are getting a shot at these and not just expecting them.

I think that underscores Jacob's point about how there is a core group of people who will snap bottles up, but a lot of League members aren't going to be maxing out, or even buying a whole heck of a lot.

The obvious positive is that it seems like a lot of the worrying about releases with not enough bottles to guarantee one for every member was probably for naught. BA Monster's Park variants will likely have a higher participation rate, but I doubt there will be too many members trying for bottles and getting shut out.

If every member maxed out, they would not have seen a public sale. Can't fault MT for that.

I'm a nervous guy but this is a concern of mine. I'm sure the BA stouts are going to bring out more members than sour stouts, Brett IPAs and kettle sours. I hope the limits are set back to more cautious levels for those more desirable releases. That being said... I have faith that Jacob and co know what they are doing and will likely plan accordingly when the time comes.

Would never fault MT for that, it was explicitly stated that they would offer bottles to the public for any league release as they saw fit. My comment was more directed at those in this thread that aren't league members and stating how it might not be fair to miss out on a release that they technically weren't part of anyways.

We also don't know (they probably don't know yet, either) what the final yield of any BA Monsters' Park variant will be. Considering they aren't releasing the base beer on its own anymore and barrel aging every drop made, I imagine the yields will be considerably higher than in the past. Hoping this leads to the opportunity to make sure that every member is able to purchase one if they wish to do so.

I apologize if this has been asked previously, but I can't recall the answer. I have out of state/area friends heading to SD at various times throughout the year. We are planning on meeting at MT (I'm in OC), and I was wondering about the feasabilty of bringing some of my League or other MT beers (ONLY MT beers) to share/open with them at Lomaland. Obviously we'd be all buying on tap beers and other goodies, but I'd also like to share with them some stuff not regularly available (i.e. - League only stuff, BA MP's, etc.). Thanks!
