I'm not sure what to believe anymore.
HE PROBABLY DOESN'T EVEN OWN A SPEEDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the same moment ... Monkish Release Logistics > Electric Release Logistics ... which is a damn shame, complete shit show in Murrieta for their releases, ARGH
Oh the day when Monkish logistics surpasses another line mob. That being said, every line I've been in at Monkish lately has been fantastically fast.
I haven't made a release but have heard this on a few occasions. I can't drive 1.5 hours to do what I already do at Monkish, even if they might be slightly better at the moment. lol.
Isn't it June 1st? I regret not getting any of these for B1, so I might buckle down and get this.
Nevermind, am idiot.
Yeah, I know you're a big fan, lol. Don't take it personal. Just burnt out on 'em is all.
Dollars to donuts that's why I didn't get it last year...just a ton of peach sours.
as a newbie sour boy I'm definitely going to try and get this monkish sour. They sell out so quick tho...
I’ve never been to a can release. This summer I am going up north for a vacation with a friend who’s a beer guy who also has never had a canned monkish ipa. How are the releases now? If I get to the brewery @4 am I pretty certain to get cans?
Yes, if u get there at open, u will get cans.
Welp, missed THAT one, GF got her allocation though.
I find that Electric tastes better when fresh but only after a few days, it falls off hard. On the reverse, sometimes Monkish may be not as good fresh but will not only be that much better after some time, but it also holds up way longer than Electric. I still prefer and think Monkish to be the better choice.
NGL, I still have a Bonita in my fridge. Also still have a REALLY old Foggy Window that I'm rather curious about.
Does Electric use flour in many of their beers? Perhaps that is the reason for the fall off?
@loudoesbeer on instagram just did a foggy window vertical lol
So I had a trip to SoCal for a few days...and can you believe the last night I was going to be there, Monkish had a can release?!?! So glad I was able to get a few four packs of this one!
Sweet tropical, slightly dank, hoppy nose...taste follows with light and crisp bitter hop bite that transforms into an almost grapefruity/citrus bitterness as it warms. So soft on the palate and great mouthfeel! Great!
Monkish beach ball you say...
Has the line for tomorrow started yet? Triple can release and one being a space cookie adjunct beer with a 1-4 pack limit, sounds like a shit show.
sounds just like any other Saturday release
Can’t be as bad as the most recent Other Half colab release
I believe that for that release their Twitter said there was 600 people in line at opening. Even with the triple release tomorrow, you’re right, I don’t see it being anywhere near that. I’m betting 400 or less at opening.
Experimental space cookie is a drain pour. Glad I only traded for one can. Too sweet. Pools on Pools is great tho.
Only cookie I've liked is the regular Space Cookie, and it seems like that's an "every other batch" thing too.
I thought the same with Super Fluffy Form as well, just too sweet for an already sweet triple. I hope they tone down the milk sugar ipa offerings a bit, seems unnecessary for their style but that might just be me.
they are trying to compete with Electric brewing. Electric brewing is blowing up with these milk sugar IPAs, Henry wants to do it too.
You couldn't finish a monkish can? You didn't even try to use it in cereal or food? HOLY SHIT I'M FREAKING OUT HERE MANNNNNNNN
Damn, shoulda used to to make experimental space cookie turkey chili
I been interested in this brewery for a while.
That anniversary beer they gave away at their party would have been a drain pour for me but I jedi mind-tricked my wife into believing it was good so she'd drink them instead of my west coast IPAs.
have you tried any of electric's haze? if so how does it compare to monkish IYO(InYourOpinion)
I haven't had any Electric but would definitely try some if readily available
In my experience, I visited Electric about 3 years ago prior to all of this recent hype. I found all of their IPA's to be extremely sweet and overbearing. Mouthfeel great, vegetal finish, and harsh bitterness. I went about 6 months ago, and the IPA's were still very sweet, although they have improved on the finish for me.
Doesn't come close to Monkish for me. IMO.
Experimental Space Cookie was almost as bad as Monk-Tiki. That one was definite miss for Monkish. Heard guided meditation was pretty bad as well. For Monkish being in business for 7 years they only had about 4 drain pour beers, Monk-Tiki, Nighthawkz, guided mediation & experimental space cookie, that's not a bad track record at all.
I think you need to add Mango Space cookie in there too. If that's the right variant of space cookie I'm thinking of..me and my friend left our pours at the tap room half filled. Didn't even bother.
I think this is Henry's OG drain pour though
OG Red Table was a treasure, though
