I want to go to there. That's a seriously crazy list of vintage beers.

I'm curious about the beers Tom will be opening up after the dinner. Hopefullly, someone attending will report back.

This event was out of control. The food was amazing, and the beer was unbelievable. On top of what's above, they opened:

    1999 Drie Fonteinen Millenium
    1997 Alaskan Smoked Porter
    Festina Lente (First Batch)
Hanssens Oude Kriek (Around 10 years old)
BFM La DragonneVapuer En Folie (Unsure of vintage)
    Pizza Port 15th Anniversary
    1999 3F Millennium Gueueze
    1997 Alaskan Smoked Porter
    1993 Chimay Blue

did they open those to only the dinner attendees or did the bar open afterwards to anyone?

I think it was open to everyone. The back bar was closed for the dinner, but I believe it opened up for everybody afterwards. I don't think anybody tried to join in, though. The beers were just sitting on the bar.

By the time I got to the Smoked Porter I was pretty well beyond being able to formulate an opinion on it haha. I simply wrote down: "too smokey." Which doesn't surprise me as I'm not typically a big fan of roast/smoke forward stouts and porters. I'd say if you like 'em smokey you'll be in for a treat.

They did not, which actually has turned out to be my biggest disappointment. I had no idea it was supposed to be heated (I know it's on the label, no excuses), I bet they would have if somebody asked.

Yea same beer I just posted it twice.

Also: BFM La DragonneVapuer En Folie (Unsure of vintage)

    should be:
    BFM La Dragonne
Vapuer En Folie (Unsure of vintage)

I wasn't able to ninja-edit before I noticed both errors, sorry!

The smoked porter was excellent. I dig smoked beers and loved it. I thought it was very well balanced. No idea if the age improved it as it was the first time I tried it.

    Folie was 1991

The stand outs for me were the Cantillons on the menu. I enjoyed Iris more than the 3font '99.

I remember the Hanssens being a bit older and smelled like gym socks left in a musty basement. Obviously from that description you can tell it was delicious, and it was.

The Folie was '91? Wow I didn't realize that. Yea, completely agree the Millenium wasn't special for me, it was just so aggressively sour. In hindsight, I think the Festina Lente was one of the better beers offered. Iris 1996, as we discussed at the bar, was absolutely my favorite.

So was it Millennium Geuze or 1999 Oude Geuze? Each have very similar sikscreened labels. I didn't know Tom had much Millennium Geuze lying around but have heard of him opening the 1999 before.
