First come first served eliminates the need to "randomly" select attendees.

Just curious...how much $ were 12oz bottles from the previous release?

Confirmed that they used rover truck for the base beer this year. Dbijnagte is wrong... It's splendid. So glad it's not thick and chewy this year. Way more drinkable since it's closer to a brown ale

Who cares if it isn't barrel aged. It's one of the most amazing beers I have ever had. This is about the same logic as the people who think lower ABV beers should always be less expensive than higher ABV beers.

My apologies for being out of the loop, but I must have missed where TG confirmed that Rover Truck was the base for MD this year.

The "thick and chewy" is the whole reason that mornin delight is amazing; the thick beer carries all that maple and coffee awesomeness to the next level. Rover truck sounds like a horrible choice as the base beer for Mornin' Delight. Hope that the 100 dollars that 500 people gladly spent in record time is worth it; buyer beware...Mornin' Delight might not be as good as it was when the 12oz bottles were released. I hope TG proves me wrong that rover truck makes a good base beer for mornin' delight. I am skeptical that it will be as good though.

Since it is not barrel aged, it wouldn't have taken much for them to run one or even a few small pilot batches. From what I have heard of Mike, sounds like something he could have done. Obviously pure speculation, but if there was a change in the base beer, I don't think Mike would be doing it blind.

Still quite a hefty price tag. Plus you have to be willing to either drive to IA very early Saturday morning or stay overnight somewhere nearby on Friday.

With an IA Zwanze day a few weeks later, Eastern IA is going to see an uptick in tourism dollars!

NG 500ml bottles were $10 each (about $.60 an ounce). But NG is in a very good place financially. They have no need to quickly raise funds and the R&D releases are more fun for Dan than anything else. They price probably guarantees that they don't lose $$$ in the process.

The range for MD is $1.36-$2.27, depending on how much value is placed on the forced purchase items included in the "box set". The taster value is probably $5-8.

So I agree that it's a steep price- but it helps to think of it more as a fundraiser for TG than a fair market value. I'd buy a set because I'm willing to support the brewery (hell, I'd donate $100 to a kickstarter if they asked me to).

Fair enough, good info to know. Mike is a very talented brewer for sure. Great to see him back at TG brewing great beer! It will be interesting to see how this batch of Mornin' Delight compares to the first batch; when people start cracking bottles on August 29th that is when we will know.
