From the fan website ... Motörhead Bastards Lager, brewed by Krönleins Bryggeri, has just launched. Unfortunately for fans it's only available in Sweden right now, with orders being taken by Systembolaget.

I'm still trying to figure out what exactly makes this a "real rock beer," let alone "the biggest" or "first," especially as it's described as a "light beer" and their not the first band to come out with a beer.

Agreed! The beer sounds awful, and I'm not usually a fan of celeb endorsed stuff, but it's freakin Motorhead, and the bottle looks AWESOME!

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a quarter of a million 250,000? It doesn't matter if you're talking about America or the UK, that doesn't even equal going platinum once let alone six times.

I thought gold was 1/2 million, platinum 1 million. . . even assuming otherwise, their math still sucks, much like Motorhead cheapening themselves by doing this (regardless of the awesome label).

Motorhead makes light lager. . . Hanson makes an IPA. Speaks volumes. . . (and don't take "makes" literally)

Now I'm gonna go crank "Jailbait" and think where Motorhead went wrong.

Ever since Napster and The Pirate Bay the music industry have had to lower their standards, now it only takes 40 physical album sales to go Platinum.

“– If you think you’re too old for Rock ’n’ Roll and to drink beer then you probably are. Pity, but that means all the more beer for us” says Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee.

Who the hell would ever think they're "too old to drink beer?"

Grandson: "Hey Grampa! Wanna go get a beer after Bingo?"

Grampa: "You mean that crazy rock n' roll bastards beer that looks like it was made by the devil himself?"

Grandson: "Yeah! That's the one! It's like the best tasting beer ever! So intense! What do ya say, Grampa?"

Grampa: "Intense, huh? Nah. 20 - 30 years ago, maybe. Now....I'm just a bit too old for those kind of extremes. You go ahead and enjoy your crazy beer. I'm gonna go home and have my usual barleywine. Watch Wheel of Fortune. Take a nap."

Grandson: "Oh, Grampa! More awesomest beer for me, I guess."

    Grandson: "Hey Grampa?"

    Grampa: "Yes?"

    Grandson: "What's a barleywine?"

I honestly don't get why(with the exception of the Amon Amarth Porter) that these artists and famous people go about and say they are making a beer and then its some random pale lager. Seriously, its not that difficult to be creative and make a beer with character. No hate to Motorhead for this, because they are an awesome band; but let's be realistic here.

I agree that label is must have! As for style really not a great choice, but do you think all the fans at a show are gonna care? "MH beer?!?"

C'mon we all know Lemmy should be standing behind a drink that courses thru his veins, bourbon.

This beer was only released in Sweden so the press release was relevant to that market. "Going Platinum" in Sweden definitely doesn't require selling a million records, though I'm not sure exactly what the number is.

Follow-up: Going platinum in Sweden = 40,000 sales.

A real rock and roll beer they say unlike nearly the entire three floyds portfolio. Wow. I could simply never imagine drinking beer and listening to heavy metal. This is breaking new ground. Shouldn't there be some low grade speed thrown in for that true edge?

Jester King or Three Floyds would have done it justice.
