This is a feature I've seen before on forums, where you can click an icon on a post that says "Multi-Quote" and then when you finally hit reply, everything you've previously clicked "Multi-Quote" on will show up in the reply box. Makes it easier to reply to multiple people at once. Right now we're getting a lot of the same person posting 2+ times in a row, which is fine as far as it goes, but I'm used to it being bad etiquette so it's making my head hurt a little. If this option isn't available it's not a big deal, just wanted to see.
If I kajiggered the quotes and it actually shows up properly, I think he means like this. Edit: Whooohooo!!
Significant amounts of my time on BA are through a proxy, where that wouldn't work. I've been opening them in tabs and c/p-ing. Regardless, one of the reasons I wanted it is so that it was more obvious to other people that you can do it. I didn't mean nested quotes, which I already assumed the forum software could handle (though I didn't try).
No, I can't. Reply doesn't work that when you're going through a proxy (or, at least, through my proxy). It takes you to an entirely different page.
I can quote you. And i can quote you to make it look like you said something really truthful. I have nearly a decade using a mountain bike forum that uses this format, if you ever have a question, message me, and i will have a 10% chance of knowing the answer. PS. Thanks Frank for the beer.
Wait.......how did you find out? But really, maybe i shouldn't have revealed this loop hole to everybody. My magic is not safe here.
I'd love to see a nested quotes feature (e.g. Person A says something, Person B responds, Person A is able to quote the original two posts inside each other so a viewer can see the full context). Here, it only contains the most recent post. In another board I used to frequent, the nested limit was 4. But that's slightly different from the OP's request.
Umm, okay, do you know what a proxy is? This is the one I use and most of the javascript on pages doesn't work through it. If you access BA through that you'll find that replies take you to a new page, they don't just queue up in the reply box in the bottom. I know how to do all of these things outside of it (or a bit more difficultly through it) but I posted this thread because it doesn't seem like most people do, and making it more obvious would probably reduce needless and spammy multiple posts. That's stated in the OP, not "I don't know how to do it".
I just tried that link. Do you seriously browse like that? Holy shit that is horrible. I can't imagine that there isn't a better way to browse. Why do you need to use a proxy server? Website blocked?
Yes. The stupid thing is that it's not even intentional, but I feel weird bringing it up repeatedly, it's super low priority, and we don't even have in-house IT who can deal with it. So whatever, probably shouldn't be BA as much as I am at work anyway. BA is a bit weird in chrome mobile too, but I think that's more their fault than BA's. I should report that...
