Going to Nantucket for the first time this weekend, arriving Friday, coming back Sunday. Suggestions/recommendations for spots to enjoy/buy good beer?
Nantucket is on a bit of a craft beer....island. Cisco is a must visit to taste some of the tap-room only brews and their spirits, and it's a great locale on a nice day with ample outdor space. You'll also find Cisco on tap all over the island. In terms of buying good beer, I've usually had good luck at Nantucket Wine & Spirits off the back of the Stop & Shop mid-island on Sparks Ave.
I agree with what @Piels25 said, Cisco is the only "beer destination" on island. Some of the better beer lists downtown: Nantucket Tap Room B-ACK Yard BBQ The Nautilus (Great Cocktails too) Really your best plan for beer is drink Whale's Tale everywhere you go. And get an Old Fashioned at both The Breeze Bar inside the Nantucket Hotel and The Brant Point Grill at the White Elephant.
Where are you taking the ferry from? You could always stop on the mainland for some beer before you head over there if you have the luggage space.
|Aside from stopping at Cisco - and on-island is still independent, FWIW - you're better off bringing your own. Not that there's nothing at all there, but there's plenty of good beer on the mainland. Also check out the other brands from Cisco's parent there, Triple 8 spirits and Nantucket Winery.
Brotherhood of Thieves used to be the only place on the island with okay/decent draught but they closed down. Next best is probably backyard bbq. The Sea Grille has had Charles Towne Fermentory cans the last couple years.
I read that they're hoping to resurrect The Brotherhood. I sure hope so - they had the best chowder on the island.
