We're staying by airport, going to Yazoo for sure. Besides that what is recommended. We all like good beer. Also what's the best beer store, I'm driving and bringing beer back to Tx, thanks!

I will be following this as I have mine coming up in a few months and I cannot decide whether to stay in Lexington, KY, go to Chicago or Nashville.

Right near yazoo is macdoogals. It's a great beer store. Midtown is also good. There are a few others, but they'd be further away and have pretty much the same selection. Bars to hit up: flying saucer and 12 south tap room. The Pharmacy is also a neat place with great burgers. Jackalope brewery is close to yazoo and would be worth checking out

The correct answer is Bowling Green, KY.

For real? Haven't been there since about 2008 when my buddy was still at WKU.

So I've heard, but that will not complete a bachelor party evening! I suppose that could be a quick drive from Nashville though.

Or to the mellow mushroom in downtown BG to sample their 32 taps too. Also the beers at winos are usually high in abv so it might do the trick.

Here are a few biggies you can't get in TX: Yazoo, Blackstone, Terrapin, Sweetwater and Highlands (I think). That is going off memory from a recent trip to Austin. For the most part, TX has good beer selection.

If you are in Nashville, check out Fat Bottom Brewery as well. They have decent beer, and good food. Don't even try to replicate TX BBQ here...same goes for Mexican. Flying Saucer should be a stop on your visit, probably the best selection in one area.

OP, I am going to be in Nashville for my wedding in mid march and doing my bacherlors party the week of. Being that I am living in texas (went to college in Nash), i am in a similar boat.

Definitely hit up 12th South Taproom. They have firkin tappings, and a great beer selection. As far as bottle shops, Frugal MacDoogals is pretty good, but honestly I liked Midtown Wine and Spirits better. Also there is a new place call Bottle Shop i believe on 8th, and a place called the Filling Station that does growler fills on 12th. Other good deals might be found at Whole Foods, they have growlers there too. You can go to Blackstone Brewery for some good food and in house brews...

    Brews to search out...
Yazoo Sue Smoked Porter for sure! Terrapin beers, Southern Tier beers, Goose Island stuff (I dont think texas has it yet), I really like local Jackalope Thunder Ann, there also is a brewery out of Franklin, but I cant recall what its called.

If you are looking for good mixed drinks, hit up The Patterson House for really high end, Prohibition style atmosphere and great cocktails. Definitely go to Whiskey Kitchen, tons of whiskey and a place where alot of celebrities hang out.

My go to bar tho is and will most likely always be 12th South Taproom.

They have a flying saucer as well which usually has a decent selection, although I wasn't as impressed with this one as I have been with others like houston and austin.

It's called Turtle Anarchy. I have never been there and haven't heard much about it. But it might be fun to check out.

If you go to froogals, you are right by jackalope as well. It is right up the road, within walking distance. That being said, I would NOT advise walking. That area is not the best. In a large group you would be better off, but that will draw attention. Metro patrols a lot down there and they have no issue hitting you with a public intox if you are at or above the limit. One way or the other, make sure to try some Gerst by Yazoo! That stuff is awesome! And the label is wicked good if you like breweriana. If you end up coming north to Clarksville give me a shout and I can direct you around here as well.

TA is awesome.. Definitely putting out some of the best beer in Nashville area. Blows Jackalope and Fat Bottom away; even mostly preferably to what Yazoo puts out. The experimental stout releases are getting a lot of buzz, but you gotta be there on the right night, which he posts about on FB- this Friday being one

Well that settles it. I'm going there next time I am home! I had been meaning to, just never made it out that way.

Yes Turtle Anarchy was the one I was thinking! There Portly Stout is great, and although I am not a fan of Witbiers, I heard theirs was good as well.

Well that's good to know for sure. I'll be taking the Megabus from Chicago to Nashville on April 6th for the Hawks/Preds game and plan on walking around town to get around since I obviously won't have a car. Was gonna hit up Yazoo and maybe Jackalope since its so close (even tho their beers don't seem to get much praise around here). Looks Iike I better pack some heat.

Again, be cautious. If you have a CC especially. You are not permitted to bring a firearm into any establishment who's primary business is alcohol. Also, you are not permitted to consume while carrying. Be safe, be smart, have fun.

I was totally joking about the gun thing. I know sarcasm doesn't translate well through the computer. I'm really stoked about the trip. Plan on hitting up some of the best "hot spots" for brews in the downtown area. I've only got a day to check things out but I'll def be making the best of it.

Haha gotcha. Down in these parts many people carry so it is not far fetched
