If @FlintB is saying to open, I would say open it. He has a lot of beer to unload from what I have seen recently.

So today I’m minding my own business , when I hear a gigantic thud at the door. What could this be I think to myself.

Apparently, @Mipper had to drop a crushing box on my porch. My back is sore from dragging it into the house and upon opening it, my eyes start bleeding from staring at its full glory for a moment too long.

Truly in shock and awe, about the only thing I can say is Thank You!

Sincerely, Thank you for the opportunity at all these beauties tucked into one ginormous box....

    Here is the damage...

    Mipper,

I can’t believe you crammed all these into one box. Thank you again and cheers!

Who summoned me?? Get off my lawn! It’s good to be reeeeeeeetired again.

Just some well deserved payback for the ridiculous box you sent me.

Just some info for you. The Black Gold is 2015. The Eclipse is 2014 aged in 23 yr Evan Williams Barrels. The Abraxas is 2014 and supposedly drinking really well.

And that Ron Zacappa is the best sipping rum I have had the good fortune to try.

    Enjoy those while I

Oh Michael Vick...how great thou art.

This made me think of another quote from a movie I truly love: "There's somethin' I want to get off my chest. It's about that summer, when you went away to community college. I got an offer to do Playgirl Magazine, and I did it. I did a full spread for Playgirl Magazine. I mean spread, man, I pulled my butt apart and stuff. I was totally nude. It was weird, I... I mean, you probably didn't hear about it 'cause I went under the name of Mike Honcho. But I just wanted you to know that. If you can hear me, if it got into your brain somehow, that I spread my buttcheeks as Mike Honcho."

When I ship a ninja box, I try not to vary too far from the target's name...but I digress.

Mystery solved! My Thai neighbors, who moved in a few months ago, ordered Thai food ingredients from Mississippi (what?!) but the shipper used the wrong address. Of course, since they are new in the hood, I had no clue what their name was until I opened their mailbox to see what the last name was. So I went over and gave them their box and she offered to give us some Thai food next time she cooks. Score!

    Suarez Family: Slow Bustle

Consumed this about 2 weeks ago with the wife. We don't get many saisons here - pretty much just Sofie, so I wanted to open these amazing Suarez brews (and the other saisons) when she was able to enjoy.

This was a real treat, but I admit that I liked it more when I first tried it, and throughout the first glass, than by the end of the bottle.

I don't have anything in particular down for smell - just that fairly standard Saison/farmhouse smell (that, personally always takes me back to Sofie, as it was one of the very first craft beers I ever had, at $5/bottle in Chicago in 2013). Little funk, not much.

Taste was very similar to what I expected from the nose. -Except, a bit tart! Not "this made my mouth pucker" type of tart, but definitely noticeably tart. Given my limited exposure, I don't know how typical this is. I enjoyed it more at the start, but by the end the tartness was a little strong.

My wife was kind of surprised that I kept saying "Wow, this is really nice!" while drinking it. I typically don't say that.

    Nice Carb level.

A very well done beer. Very much enjoyed, very much appreciated, and very thankful for the opportunity. Thanks @cavedave !!!

    Suarez Family - Postscript

Of the beers I have opened from the very generous @cavedave , This has been my favorite. I have limited exposure to Saisons, but I have really enjoyed them. This was world class to me. It was everything I want a Saison to be, but with some magic behind it.

Nothing particular to note on the nose - that typical saison/farmhouse nose with a little funk, but not much.

Taste follows similarly, with a classic saison taste. You get some nice citrus flavors, but nothing fruit-like (if that makes sense). It's the essence of citrus, but it's not citrus. It was a little dry, but not too dry. Not as dry as a brut champagne, which I am grateful for. The perfect amount. An amazing level of depth for just being a brewed saison. I would have thought for sure that this was barrel aged in white wine or champagne barrels, but I could find nothing indicating this.

    Nice Carb level.

Wife really enjoyed this one, and I think enjoyed it a bit more than the slow Bustle.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

Suarez is freaking fantastic stuff. I am a huge fanboy of their and it has quickly become one of my favorite breweries. I blame @ColdOne for introducing me and @Mikexw for satisfying my needs!

I may have sent a little ninja box to an “assassin’s” house, said box will land Saturday.

It is my belief that said “assassin” will be spending that day with the dark lord. At least he will have some beer to open when he gets home.

Cracked this one tonight from a super secret ninja box. It reminded me of the first time I had Stone RIS. Also reminded me how you don’t need a barrel to make a high quality stout. With the bare bones it’s great. Superb mouthfeel.

Thank you to @cavedave for bringing this topic up. I will throw my two cents in

I agree with Dave's sentiment. This BIF was created as an extension of NBS. Therefore an agreement that you will post at least some of the beers you received on the NBS thread on the reveal date. And I think we need to make that clear to any new participants. I don't believe that anyone expects every beer to be posted on NBS, but you have to post at least once on reveal date. The other bare minimum is to post photos of the box you received.
If someone can't agree to the bare minimums, then this probably isn't the BIF for them. We will understand if you got ill, had an emergency or something happened. (I missed a reveal date because I had the flu one round.) But if you know that you are getting married on the reveal day, you should sit that round out.

I also think it is good form to acknowledge your sender when you are drinking the beer they sent you. In most cases, your sender put some thought into that beer you are drinking. While you don't need to write a review, letting them know that you liked, loved or hated it is good manners.

There was recently a newbie BIF that grew from a thread about the lack of locals for locals trade. I joined for the purpose of being a Crash Davis type figure. The requirement was to ship 8 cans and to post a photo of what you received. I sent my target a nice box with plans to send a second. Other than a post that he had received a box, the guy posted nothing. Needless to say he didn't see that second box. If they do another round of that BIF, I am going to suggest my target not be invited back.

In summation, going forward I believe we need to make the expectations clear and advise everyone that they will not be asked back if they do not do the minimum requirements.

I missed out on the strawberry M-43 locally, so it was a really nice surprise for it to be in here. I had a great time at Allagash when I stopped there a couple years back. Their sours are solid, and I can’t wait to try this one. As for the HF, I’ve never had any of them. Oddly enough, Double Citra has been my top want for quite some time and it will probably be cracked for the NBS tomorrow.

@jhavs thank you so much for this awesome box! However, I did tell you that I wanted this one to be lopsided in your favor. Looks pretty even to me, so you can expect that to be rectified in the coming weeks....

All due respect - I think that your expectations of the NBS BIF do not apply to the Rookies BIF. I don't intend to call you out regarding this post, but I didn't receive any personal messages and I don't recall your tagging me in forum posts about the beer that I sent to you. I wasn't upset about this. Any beer that I send no longer belongs to me when it goes in a box. If it was liked or no, if it was posted about - I'll do what I can, if it is brought to my attention. If it is not - there's nothing that I can do.

If you were upset about things that occurred in the Rookies BIF, similarly to Dave, I think that you should have taken it up with the BA in question - or talk to @Swenny to hammer this out.

Again. I don't want this to be a "call you out" thread. I have no issues with you. I hope that this does not weigh on you as it seems to.

Overall there were three or four participants in the rookie thread that I wish would have been more involved. I wasn't sure what to expect since 80% were brand new to BIFs. If there is another one, I've learned a few things from it, but the tough thing about letting rookie BIFers in is that there isn't much to go on in regards to reputation. @SammyJaxxxx I was glad to have you, and sorry you had someone that wasn't as involved.

It appears that I did not send you a direct message. For that oversight I apologize. I will tell you that the oversight is definitely an exception for me. But I did post a picture of what you sent and I know I tagged you on a few of the beers that you sent me. There are a few that I still haven't gotten around to drinking. They were all greatly appreciated.

It doesn't weigh on me and I am not upset and I am not complaining. That BIF was alot of fun. I was simply pointing out what, in my opinion, what makes a good BIFer and one that isn't so good. Apparently I am not as good a BIFer as I thought it was. I will do better next round if you will have me.

I had no beef with you and still do not. I was happy that you enjoyed my box and posted a picture and your thanks! And I believe that you did post those beers in forums!

I know that there have been some disappointing performances in BIFs. I think they might be better resolved personally, or by the organizer. That is all.

    Cheers, guys, and peace!
