Did I miss your LIF? I saw you tagged us, but I didn't see a post with the actual game.

Not sure, but I think he's just counting how often we post something on this thread. Or maybe there is no actual LIF and he's amusing himself by watching us jump around for free beer.

Question: with temperatures predicted by the NWS to reach over 100° here by the end of the week (and to reach 110-ish in my hometown 150 miles to the SW of me), how many of y'all have experience in shipping or receiving beer in such temperatures, and can you say that the beer was adversely affected?

Fair question! I'd like to think not much at all unless it's allowed to sit in a hot storage facility or in the sun on a porch, but beyond my very limited (and unintentional!) hot weather beer storage experiments, I got nothing!

USPS fail! Well, at least screwed up pretty severely and could have easily done so much better.
So I sent a box out towards the state of Washington and it's (theoretically) getting there "late" but getting there. Started in Ada, MI and sat there (or somewhere?) for *4* days before ending up in Pittsburgh PA. What gives Post Office?

For me, it depends on the carrier. FedEx and USPS deliver earlier in the day here, so the beer tends to be cooler upon arrival. UPS delivers closer to 9pm and beer can be quite hot at that point. It's regularly over 100 here during the summer.

So, back in May (IIRC) I was able to meet up with Frank right in Grand Rapids. Him being who he is, he insisted on me taking some beer off his hands.
One of which was one I’ve wanted to try since I learned of its existence. Obadiah Poundage, a 19th century, London style porter. Collaboration between Goose Island and Wimbledon Brewery.
Poured plenty black, I could see some ruby highlights around the edges but could not see through at all.
The head was enthusiastic but short lived, which was okay with me as I wanted to drink it, not just stare at it.
The aroma was roasted malts, coffee centric and an organic something I couldn’t define.
The taste, smooth, deep and malty. Definitely some coffee notes but not flavors.
The feel, well, smooth. Very nice drinking porter.
I fear if my local had this on tap it would be my go to beer there.
Really enjoyed this Frank! Thank you again.

New brewery for me courtesy of @Whyteboar in ninja strike within Bif15

Brewers Notes: Drinks like silk, saturated in ripe citrus, mango and slight passionfruit. The yeast we chose for this particular beer also gives off very subtle notes of vanilla, which rounds everything out.

Chilled can poured into a teku

Off white creamy one finger foam cap reduces to a thin layer over a hazy orange juice pulp

    Aroma is citrus orange, mango

Taste is orange citrus , mango , hint of vanilla

Mouthfeel is creamy , smooth gentle hop nibble on the finish

    Good beer, thanks Craig

I'm going camping tomorrow through Sunday. There's a pretty good chance someone will win my LIF while I'm gone. I may not be able to declare the winner right away.

But don't worry, I'll announce when I can. Or I won't. Perhaps my winner will be notified by receiving a large flat-rate box full of PNW beer.

    @Whyteboar
The box you sent lifted my spirits. I do have a bit of bad news. I pulled that beautiful glass out and like a slow-motion movie I saw it slide out of the plastic and hit the floor. You would have seen a grown man sob uncontrollably. I began to question all my life choices. I sat on the floor and mourned my loss with bourbon. It helped to soothe the soul. Then I got onto eBay and ordered another. They are way too cool not to have. On to the goodness. I was sent two beers I have been searching for Black Hearted and Black Note. I never thought I would see Black Note. A huge thank you for those. The other two are New Holland Banana Fosters Porter and Founders Nemesis. I will do notes on them soon and post them here. I appreciate every one! It is wonderful to know kind people exist in the world we live in.
    Cheers Jammin.

I’m hoping to get your replacement bottle out soon by the way. Kids start camp next week and it will free up loads of time for me to shop, pack and ship. Apologies on the long delay….

Ok, the porch is starting to whimper.

In addition to the bombing it received via @BBThunderbolt on Monday, I just got ninja'd by this BIF's fellow traveller, @Dimidiata!
(Technically, I was ninja'd yesterday. I just didn't notice the box by my mailbox, inside my building, until this a.m. when leaving for work).
I had no time to snap pictures, but I can report I'm now the happy owner of two fresh Plineys and several canned beers that are not found in these parts, and that said beers are resting comfortably in the fridge while I go off to work a 12hr day on what will be the hottest day of the year this far (predicted to reach 101°), so it's possible I'll be enjoying them this evening.
    Thank you, Christina!

I thought I read somewhere you collected beer glassware so when I saw that one it struck me that you should have it. Soooo sorry it broke! I wanted to to lift your spirits, not diminish them. Good thing you had bourbon!
The Black Hearted is a little long in the tooth, but the last one I drank was still good so here's hoping. The Black Note was one of my last, but you sent such an amazing array of stout goodness I had to get you something off your wants list.
Cheers, and I seriously hope things get better for you soon!

Glad you liked it! Wax Wings is a brewery that until recently was only available at the brewery in Kalamazoo - a tiny shop in a tiny strip mall. I was so happy to see their stuff on the shelves at Horrocks. Apparently their IPAs are near legendary with the locals; I missed the original collective swoon so trying to get them coast to coast now.
    Cheers!
