That phrase is embedded in the team I used to manage/ play on. Good soccer on the pitch , great post games featuring the aforementioned “ German Gatorades”. Always had beers post-match where the tackles above the knee cap were remedied with GG.

I’d like to suggest German Gatorades for bif16….

Is it too early to ask when BIF 16 might happen? I have a trip planned in October, so wondering if things might work out. @Roguer @2beerdogs

    Good and bad.
She finally had her gallbladder out Wednesday, had surgery to finish off the removal of gallstones from her bile duct Thursday morning (this happened in June, but the gastroenterologist aborted the procedure when my Mom had an episode of AFib. They were not informed of this and didn't even find out the gallstones weren't all removed until a couple weeks later!), was released later that day and instructed to make an arrangement for getting her drain removed as an outpatient.

For this latter detail, my folks were given a phone number. When they called, they discovered they'd merely been given the generic phone number for Kadlec Hospital and went through the entire tree of options and no one answered and nothing took a message from them. My Mom was really hoping to get the drain out this week so she can start taking showers again, something she hasn't been able to do since back in June. My Dad was really looking forward to no longer having to help service said drain at various times of day.

Oh man, so sorry to hear this. And to not be able to shower in the hotter months adds another layer of misery.

    Whoa!
I'm not always in the mood for a massive (nearly 14% abv) adjunct ba stout, but as I'm off today and had nothing on the docket that would make going out in the heat necessary, it seemed like a good idea to drink this.

    And it was.

Well, they have ample air conditioning in their house (it got up to around 100° in my hometown today), so it's not as bad as it could be. I think of my grandmother who lived on her own in an un-air conditioned house outside Detroit until she was in her 80s. That situation would've been miserable even without just having surgery and not being able to shower.

Dark, murky brown body; thin, bubbly head, started out promisingly thick and frothy but quickly faded to thin, splotchy wisps atop the beer. Outstanding aroma; cocoa and coffee notes; grain char. Weak dark chocolate flavor; moderate bitterness between charred grains, coffee, and (perhaps) the hops; nice coffee flavor, espresso-like. Heavy body; silky; some boozy warmth and dryness; moderate residual sugar feel.

Not a bad coffee stout, just not that well balanced or eye-appealing. I seem to get a few chunky floaters in my mouth that melt right away, nothing gross per se. Nice coffee presence although a richer malt sweetness would offset it better.

...man, not only found another 'lurkering' beer from BIF #15 but also came across another heavy hitting stout from the BA Extreme Beer Box thing-a-ma-jig earlier this year...it's instances like this that make having so many beers on hand and distributing them as best I can around the property pays off when I 'rediscover' their existence...

...interesting, too, that @Roguer's overall score and mine are so close despite having fairly significant different takes on the individual categories...

    Plot twist.
Said child's library book was included in the LIF box. The whole LIF was an elaborate attempt by @snaotheus to get one of us to cover a late fee at his local library by bribing us with beer.

Black body; opaque; thin, patchy head, light khaki color. Pleasant dark malt aroma. Very nice rich stout flavor; bitter and milk chocolate with a hint of cinnamon in the background; moderate booziness develops midway through the tasting. Heavy body; slick; dense, smooth residual sugars; light touch of alcohol warmth.

This is a fine stout, not overly complicated yet complex enough. There is nothing extraordinary here, yet its a nice overall take of an imperial stout with moderate usage of adjuncts.

Look what showed up at my front door today!

This box doesn't smell nearly as good as the last cardboard sack that @Coronaeus sent me, but the thing that the gold foil is wrapped around looks much more appetizing this time.

    This little day-brightener contained:
    • Weller Antique 107
    • Godspeed - Sklepník V. Oceli (1x12oz can)
    • Godspeed - Bůh Originální Ležák (1x12oz can)
    • Godspeed - Baby Světlý (1x12oz can)
Thank you, Peter! I'm super excited!

I’m very glad it arrived safe and sound. After @2beerdogs box to me was seized by an overzealous (yet very polite) customs officer, a trade box outside this BIF to me went missing after arriving in the Toronto UPS hub, my previous box to you was destroyed by the Incredible Hulk, and this box (along with a couple others) decided to spend a week at customs in Chicago, it appears that my luck hasn’t completely left me.

I am a big fan of Godspeed. That Baby Svetly is, in my opinion, very impressive for the 1.5% ABV.

    Cheers!
