Quoting myself to expound on the photo.

What we have here is a stellar ‘Wild’ box from the man with the mucous covered home.

E9 Petite Belle Grisette, Last Truck to Clarksville, Endless Circle and Little Asterisks fruited wild ales.

    Foreland Rain Harvester Farmhouse Ale.

Ale Apothecary Tumelo Kriek and Charles Espolito.

Great Notion Bicycle Day and RBG fruited sours.

Cascade. Renal Equinox BA fruited sour.

Thanks again @snaotheus . These all look great. Far too generous as a thank you for a little LIF win.

Beautiful looking beer; clear, golden yellow body; scant slow-rising carbonation; thick, billowy head, white and semi-creamy. Soothing light caramel aroma with a suggestion of herbal notes in the background. Outstanding taste; malty with a honey-like sweetness; light bitterness; mild alcohol note. Medium-heavy body; smooth with a touch of velvet on the palate; nice soft residual sugars; slight alcohol dryness at the finish.

This collaborative bock is a pleasure to sip. Rich and complex with a very pleasing lager smoothness.

...going to do a lot of smoking today, first up salmon to be followed with beer brats and then flank steak...this beer fits in nicely with the process...

I feel the need to drive up to Toronto to swing by @Coronaeus 's house to steal some of the beer from that "Wild Box", then drive out to Colorado to pick through the remnants of what you made yesterday.

Pours a light straw gold with a massive, out-of-control head that dissipates very slowly.

The aroma is yeasty, with some grassy and herbal notes. A little black pepper in the background.

Taste follows. Lovely yeasty/bready quality to the sip. Some of that peppery quality in the nose transfers to the mouth. The slightest hint of tartness.

    Lighter body. Refreshing.

This is a solid Grisette. A great style I don’t get a chance to drink enough of. Thanks Ryan!!

Clear, pale yellow body; fair carbonation; one-finger thick head, white with a sudsy texture, lasting. Gentle sweetness on the nose with hints of mild fruit and green grass. Very light malt flavor with a bold, peppery hop presence; strong hop bitterness. Medium body; fine coarseness on the palate; crisp and dry.

A decent pilsner delivering a mild malt base with a fairly intense spicy hop flavor and moderate hop bitterness.

    Pirate Noir from Prairie.
Their stout in rum barrels. Generously gifted by @jvgoor3786 back in BIF #12.
Glugged (is that a word?) into the snulip or whatever those are called in such a fashion that @Dimidiata and her decanter came to mind. But not to worry, it turned out just fine.
The aroma was roasted malts and what I am guessing is rum (seriously, never had the stuff. Not opposed to it or anything, just never came across it at a good time.)
The taste was really good, the base stout was not overwhelmed by the barrel aging at all, rather accented by it. I found myself just savoring every sip. (I wonder if that implies I would like rum?)
The feel was excellent, no decanter necessary. Pleasantly viscous yet very drinkable. Seriously good stout.

It’s the last Friday of the month and normally I would be at SAN but most of the group is on vacation on Beaver Island, so just the one tonight. But it was really good.
Cheers all! Onward to the weekend!

Last night I enjoyed Rain Harvester, a Farmhouse Ale from Foreland Beer courtesy of @snaotheus .

Pours a light gold with ample head that dissipates very slowly leaving a thick ring around the glass as the beer is enjoyed.

The nose is grassy/floral with a touch of a spicy note. Clean. It has what I’d call an aroma that reminds me of both a clean light lager and rustic saison.

Taste follows. Grassy hops and some spicy/peppery flavours greet the tongue. The slightest hint of banana sit in behind.

    Light bodied and eminently drinkable.

This was a unique little saison. Thanks @snaotheus

Rum is highly underrated. Get yourself a good bottle and enjoy it straight or with an ice cube. I always keep a bottle in the house for when I want something a little sweeter than bourbon to sip on.

Clear, very dark beer, looks black in the glass; fairly thick head, dense and creamy; generous rings of foam line the glass. Pleasant aroma of mildly roasted grain and cocoa powder. Excellent flavor combination of light sweetness, mild dark chocolate with a slight grain char and hop bitterness. Medium-heavy mouthfeel; silky and smooth.

This fine schwarzbier is tasty and smooth, delivering some fantastic dark grain flavor.

Dragon's Milk Triple Mash, compliments of @Whyteboar! Thanks, Craig!

Poured at fridge temp. Pours black as night with a light layer of tan head. Tons of bubbles streaming up throughout. The nose is fantastic. Tons of malts, oak, black licorice, brown sugar, and a nice dose of dark fruit. Red grapes, blackberries, and a boozy alcohol note. You can definitely tell the ABV is high from the nose, but I wouldn't guess 17.3% - something closer to 13 or 14.

The taste is pretty hot. Reminiscent of Utopias WWS. Boozy. Bourbon, chocolate, a touch of spice, molasses, raisins, shark oak, charred wood, tobacco, and coffee grounds. Really nice. I could see this improving with another year in the bottle.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied. The aftertaste is a mix of sweet and wood. Overall, really great. Definitely a sipper!

Oddly enough, I also had this beer on Saturday. I visited Foreland in Portland at their lovely little location that is in an old house. Fantastic lagers and traditional British ales (on cask!), and their ipas weren't too shabby either. I actually had this specific beer at a different taproom later that night, but wish we had more time at Foreland because their beer was excellent. I think we did manage to drink the whole board before last call.

    Announcement Time!

The powers that be (I won't go so far as to call us a brain trust  ) have put pen to paper and are ready to advertise NBS BIF #16!!!

Sign-up thread will go live on Saturday, September 10. All current and past participants are welcome to join. Any "new" members will have to be vetted by a current member and approved by Derek, Frank, and me. New members should already participate in the NBW thread (or establish that they will), and should have an established (not necessarily lengthy) record in trading and/or other BIFs.

Hints and Hauls thread will go live on Saturday, October 8. That gives us almost a month for sign ups, and to finish up the current round. I will keep this thread open until the H&H thread goes live; after that, all round #15 business should be posted in the round #16 H&H thread.

Most importantly: the official share date is the holiday weekend of November 11-13. This gives us a full month for hints and hauls, ninjas, and general chicanery.

Please do not sign up here. We are not yet tracking participants, and won't do so until the sign up thread (it makes tracking much, much easier). I mean, feel free to express your excitement (spoilers: I'm participating!), but make sure you also drop a line in the sign up thread.

We are moving this one about a month later than normal. We are a little behind schedule, this round is still hot, and some of us have some serious conflicts right now. My apologies for the delay.

    THE. BIF. IS. COMING.

Okay, it's time for another LIF.

As some of y'all may know, I am a Seattle Seahawks fan, which means I am expecting to be sitting through some thoroughly mediocre professional football this year.

Just how mediocre? Well, that remains to be seen. If you'd like to guess just how mediocre, tell us how many touchdowns AND turnovers you expect the Seahawks to have accrued after week two of the NFL season in the form of a single, combined number. For example, if you think they'll score two touchdowns and cough up the ball four times, you say "6."

Y'all will have between now and 1201AM PST on Monday, September 12. Once you have submitted your guess, that guess is final. Winner will be announced shortly after the game on Sunday, September 18, and will be sent a box of PNW canned options.
