If you are comfortable sending over the border I’ll go with 8. If you aren’t (and don’t hesitate to say so) I’m just as happy to secretly forward a win to one of the fine folks in this BIF. So 8 either way if you are fine with that. Cheers!!

Speaking of fresh hops, @2beerdogs, I've yet to talk to anyone local that is saying unequivocally that they'll be doing any fresh hop beers. Maybe that's just where we are, economically, at the moment, among small breweries. I'm sure the bigger regional players like Fremont will come through, but more local players may just skip it this year. I'll be questioning local brewers about it at the Among The Pines Festival on Sunday.

Thanks to @Roguer for sending this one back in BIF 14! Charleywine, a barleywine aged in brandy and rye barrels. From Cigar City.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours dark brown with a tiny layer of head. The nose is full of brandy. Wow. This compliments the subsequent notes of toffee, figs, prunes, tobacco, and vanilla. A bit of oak, and a rye spice come through after the intense wave of brandy subsides. I could just smell this all night. I almost don't want to take a sip for fear of being disappointed. Expectations are high.

The taste doesn't disappoint, but it doesn't quite match the nose. The booze is a bit intense, spreading a burn as it descends down the throat. The brandy is still the main character, but the rye competes here. I can't say that I have ever tried a barleywine aged in both brandy and rye barrels. Great combination. A bitter oaky flavor meets the sweet fruity flavor. Also getting tobacco, a touch of coffee, lots of vanilla, some burnt toffee, raisins, molasses, and figs. Very much a sipper.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a nice sweet/bitter aftertaste. Overall, a wonderful barleywine. I'm savoring every sip.

The sign-up thread for the next round may be right around the corner, but this round isn't dead. @JayORear wasted no time in returning fire on my less-than-neutral porch:

Some beers I've had before (Stickee Monkee - always appreciated, as I still rarely see FW reserves, even with their improved distro and shift to the 12 oz format - and Luscious, as well as Double Two Hearted, which I love, and haven't seen recently) and some absolutely beguiling IIPAs that I can't wait to try.

I also really appreciate the double-tap of the new beers. It's always nice to be able to try a new-to-me beer more than once, to validate my original experience and make sure I wasn't having an off-day, but also because if the beer is awesome, it's great to have more! :grinning: (This is a practice I often employ, as well. I think it has its roots in more traditional trading as opposed to the NBS BIF, where I'm trying to maximize new beer experiences.)

And, since my partner has never had Stickee Monkee before, let's get Sunday kicked off right:

Coal black body, opaque; one-finger thick light khaki colored head, creamy. Lightly charred grain aroma infused with caramel and cocoa; coffee; boozy. Milk chocolate and fudge taste; bourbon; anise. Heavy body; silky; slippery residual sugar feel; mild to moderate alcohol heat tempers the sweetness.

The bottle label lists Butterfingers and marshmallows as part of the ingredients. I can sense that. The beer brings a rich sweetness and lushes mouthfeel to the palate. Big, boozy, and beautiful.

Maynard's ESB from Amory’s Tomb Brewing, compliments of Maynard (@WunderLlama)

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a moderately-opaque orange with fluffy white head. Sticks around for a long time with lots of lacing.

The nose is wonderful. Orange, spice, caramel, vanilla, hops, and a nice floral note.

The taste is fantastic. Definitely a bitter earthy/woody note to kick things off. Some rye spice, citrus, slight nuttiness, grains, rhubarb, bread, and a bit of leather. Refreshing and dry mouthfeel. Aftertaste is mostly bitter oak. Overall, a wonderful beer.

On the subject of finding beer from past BIFs, this is one sent to me by @WunderLlama in BIF #12, Estonian Ticks and Rocket Balls. Coffee by Treehouse, Imperial Stout by Treehouse, combined by Treehouse to seriously tasty beer. Coffee was prominent but not overwhelming, the smoothness of the malts dovetails into the coffee ideally. Really good, and I needed a good beer tonight. A day over full of 1st world problems isn’t life threatening but it is really annoying. This helped. Thanks Maynard!

Another Treehouse stout from the amazing LIF hit from @WunderLlama in BIF #12:
Lovely black pour with medium brown head that never quite goes away.
Aroma was malty goodness and some undefinable sweetness, mallow or vanilla or chocolate or all three, I couldn’t tell. But it smelled really nice.
The taste followed, I didn’t get all the s’mores flavors but I did get mallow like hints and chocolate tints, no graham could I taste. Even still, it was a true pleasure drinking it.
The feel was excellent for the style, ideally viscous and quaffable.
Really enjoyed it, if I get the chance to get another, I won’t sit on it for 2 years.
    Thanks Maynard!

Great Notion Bicycle Day fruited tart ale.

This poured a Dayglo green with an ample lighter green head. No lacing to speak of.

Bright and strong aromas. Melted fruit popsicle jumps out first. Sweet apricot, mango and orange follow. This is all fruit on the nose.

Taste follows closely. Sweet fruit. Apricot and orange really jump out with peach and mango sitting in behind. Mildly tart.

    Medium body.

This was a sight to behold Ryan. It was rather enjoyable. The popsicle notes in the nose scared me a little, but this turned into a rather good fruited sour. Cheers and thanks @snaotheus

Dude! I'm trying! But when you guys send me these amazing boxes full of great beer, I immediately put the IPAs and lagers in the beer fridge and anything that will be okay if it sits a bit goes in the cellar, with honest intentions of digging it out as soon as the fore mentioned perishables have been consumed. But then LIFs hit, and retaliation strikes, and Ninja strikes and soon my pants are shrinking a ridiculous amount and I can't get into my cellar for all the boxes put in recently. I'd say "Oh, woe is me" but then I realize how much astoundingly good beer in in my cellar and I'm certain I am a very fortunate guy. Who apparently needs to drink more.
