I still have a lot to review from this BIF, but this is the best can from @FBarber so far.

Energy City Bistro Crumble. This is INSANE. Murky ruby/purple smoothie color. Solid fluffy head retention, minimal lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge raspberry/blackberry jam, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, red grape/wine, green apple, cinnamon, vanilla, brown sugar, wheat, toast, hay, straw, grass, light peppercorn/lacto funk. Moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness and fruit tang on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; balanced creamy/silky wheat, lactic acid, and fruit tang/tannic mouthfeel. Fairly crisp/clean finishing with no pucker or cloying flavors. Refreshing and minimal warming 6.5%. This is pretty much the best fruit smoothie sour I've ever had. Monumental amounts of jammy fruit with perfect balance of lacto and dessert like cinnamon/crumbles flavors. Tastes 100% like the label claims. 4.72

Less that three hours before my LIF locks up. Then we wait and see how good (or bad) the Seahawks are in their first two games. Here's where we sit:

We are still reviewing here right?

This was excellent. Goose Island Obadiah Poundage courtesy of @FBarber.

I was intrigued by this beer as I tend to have a thing for trying historical recipes. Frank noted my interest and included this in his Florida LIF from last round.

Pours a dark mahogany brown with moderate head that dissipates to a light ring.

Complex aroma. Pipe tobacco, stewed fruit, cocoa powder and an ever so slight hint of Brett. Very interesting.

The taste follows but is even more complex, yet light and drinkable. Stewed fruit, chocolate. Dry. The Brett is there but very subtle.

Light body, but in no way thin. Excellent.

This was a treat. Thanks so much for the bottle Frank!

I'm not sure a citraweisse is a real thing, but this is a nice raspberry Berlinerweiss that's quite tasty to my admittedly smoke damaged taste buds.

Wow. What a bizarre game. Not gonna complain, I'm happy to send Russ home from playing the team he spurned with an L, but what the hell kind of coach takes the ball out of the franchise QB they've chained their future to and instead opts for a 64yd field goal?! What the hell was that?

Anyway, by my crude calculations, Seattle scored two touchdowns and turned it over only once. All of y'all's in my LIF are still alive, with the lower bidders looking best.

Light yellow body; dense, slow-rising carbonation; clear; thick, sticky, sudsy white head, rocky and sculpted plus long lasting with spidery fingers of foam clinging to the glass. Nice aroma combination of green apple and floral notes; cumin and coriander. Nice flavors following along the lines of the smell; more muted in character, earthy; spicy bitterness; mild phenol presence; minimal smokiness. Medium body; smooth yet somewhat sticky; some dryness from the alcohol presence.

A smoked saison is not something one expects to cross paths with. The smoke is more noticeable in the flavor near shortly after the pour then kind of fades away later then seems to creep back into the picture as the beer warms. Overall, though, this is a thoroughly enjoyable saison with a a nice fruity, fall-like character.

Apparently my brother got put off by a visit when they first opened and weren't really dialed in yet. He goes to local breweries maybe once a year so he's in no hurry to check them out again, and I don't want to be the shitty uncle that runs out on hanging with the nieces to go drink on his own, so I haven't been able to make it happen.

Ink black body, opaque; thin, light khaki colored head. Monstrous aroma of roasted grain, grain char, almonds, chocolate., brown sugar. The taste builds on the aroma; slightly sweeter flavor; bitter; subdued booziness. Heavy body; moderately heavy residual sugar presence; a bit sludgy; alcohol heat gently undercuts the sweetness.

A well-rounded booze bomb, dark and lovely.

...I've had this beer before...liked it then, love it now (you know, that 'free' beer thing)...of course, now I'm pestered with that moral dilemma of fulfilling some sort of karmic repayment debt because, well, beer ain't free when you BIF (and LIF)...unless it's stolen...but that was back in my wayward youth era...it's a new era now: the stingy old fucker era...got them ol' former Catholic blues...torn and frayed...

Despite being past its prime, the Highball Drifter wins in a throw down

I tried the same thing and found similar results. Which is why I thought I'd better try a fresh one - and they just released them again as a 'regular' (no-bottle shop) 4 pack. I guess they'll be a regular thing for at least a while.

I’m glad you enjoyed it. It’s a different wild beer every year to celebrate their anniversary.

Just the other day I was moving things around in the cellar and realized I’ve somehow unintentionally amassed a vertical of Motley Cru going back to 2014. This included all bottles from the years in which they had 2 or 3 versions. Some of the early ones are likely way past their best by dates…. The perils of accidental cellaring.

This exquisite little beauty is basically a SMaSH (single hop and single malt) pilsner using Liberty hops and Baronesse malt. The brewers excelled at the craft with this beer and follows along the lines of the philosophy of Dieter Rams (the beer is dedicated to him) and his design philosophy of unobtrusive simple honesty. Simple, clean, tasty.
