@Roguer , Next time you hit up TH let me know Im 25 mins away would be great to meet up for beer (maybe @Roy_Hobbs ) too or the Abbey (place).

on your comment about Manson vs Charlton it was sarcasm (did not come out right). Since a lot of fan boys have SH$t on Tree house Charlton beers.. All kidding aside Im sure there is something to batch size differences and just confirmation basis .. waiting in line for 2hr + then getting like 8 cans total and maybe a growler your brain just wants to think the beer is amazing

Nice photo! Managed to get both our beers and neither one of us!
Frank is very cool and I was geeked to be able to meet him. He carved out a couple hours from a very busy weekend just for me, and that is just too cool.
Really made me want to encourage the Midwest Beer meet at the @ovaltine mansion, or a nearby hotel/air BnB.

Haha no, I caught the sarcasm. :grinning: Still, I'm sure a lot of people think there's a big difference. Maybe there is a difference (I've certainly thought so about other breweries that expanded), but I haven't noticed it.

I suspect we will be back there within the next month or so. I'd love to meet up (and maybe drag along @Roy_Hobbs and @WunderLlama !). We are planning a Hill Farmstead trip as part of our anniversary later this month, so our next Charlton run is either next month ... or next week. :grinning:

I have a “ shit ton” of travel in the next month but would welcome the opportunity to meet up at TH- Charlton or…..Arsmby Abbey….haven’t been there in 2+ years and am craving their locavore charcuterie boards and hill farmstead on tap .

Okay, what follows is a reenactment of @Rub_This_BBQ's most recent box to re-arrange the wreckage of my porch.

Said box had two food items, both from a local chocolatier called Hebert, which reminded me of both the NFL QB of that name and an obscure Seinfeld reference.
Since the day of delivery, both of these items have been dispatched, but I display their carcasses now, like deer strapped to a truck hood:
    Now, on to the beer:

Sadly, a price was paid for all this. This reenactment becomes a dramatic one at this point. Those with squeamish nature's may wish to stop reading now.

I opened the box and it's associated packaging with the nearest tool at hand, a knife - one that, alas, proved more dull than I realized, and this was the result:
Fortunately, enough didn't immediately rush from the can that I was able to pour a portion of it into a glass and drink it at room temperature. I noted down some quick thoughts on paper and will post them soon. Let's just say I regret my ham-fisted cutlery violence.
    So, to recap:
    1xHebert White Chocolate Bar.
    1xHebert Chocolate Sampler Box
    1xJack's Abby Destination:Iceland (16oz)
    2xMystery beers (12oz each)
    1xWormtown Hopulence (16oz)
    1xFiddlehead Second Fiddle (16oz)
    1xRiver Styx Eros (16oz)
    1xAllagash Curieux (12oz)
    1xTree House Nascent (12oz)
    and, drumroll please...
    1xWestvleteren 12 (0.33L)
@Rub_This_BBQ, your generosity is incredible. I'll be cracking open one of these goodies very, very, soon.

Okay, hitting mystery beer #1 (or is it #2 - there's no label at all, is it the same beer in both? I'm so confused...)
Pours very dark in color, with a tight, tan head.

Initially quite roasty in the nose. My first impression is that it's a brown ale. Will possibly change this opinion as it warms.

A bit coffee-ish in the flavor, but not to the point where I think it's a coffee brew, seems more like roasted dark malt flavor. Warming up, it seems to get a little more complex, flavor wise, to where I'm wondering if it might be a fairly low abv stout or porter. Or maybe even a dark mild.

Medium bodied. The initial pour had me thinking the carbonation was a bit low, but it seems fine now. Doesn't quite finish clean enough to have me thinking lager, but it's close. Schwarzbier, maybe? Nah, doesn't seem right.

No idea what the beer is, but I'm gonna go with my first impression and say it's a brown ale. Or a stout. Or a porter. Or a dark mild (nah, pretty sure it's not that...)

Funny you should mention that. USPS is also indicating a box originally scheduled to hit @Ozzylizard on Tuesday is already in western PA right now. My earlier box to him and both @Rub_This_BBQ's boxes to me have arrived ahead of schedule. I'm feeling like this is too good to be true, and am a little fearful for the box at this point.

    From earlier today:

Beer'd Brewing Co. x Sixpoint Brewery -- Stay Toasty
Imperial stout brewed with almonds, toasted coconut, vanilla beans, lactose, and cocoa nibs
ABV: 8.9%; pouring temperature: 45 °F; canning data: 11/29/21 STAY TOASTY MY FRIENDS
    Sourece: @Roguer (BIF #15)

    4.01/5 rDev -3.1%
    look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4

Fine, opaque black body topped with a thick, spongy head; great lacing and sheets of foam inside the glass. Mild dark grain aroma with a touch of cocoa and vanilla on the nose. Rich malt flavor; mild chocolate and cocoa; vanilla sweetness; mild to moderate bitterness. Thick and silky mouthfeel; rich residual sugar presence.

A very tasty imperial stout with some judicious adjuncts adding depth and complexity to the whole. Smooth and luscious, rich and satisfying.

    --------------------------------------------------------

...loves me some rich, tasty imperial stout...

...and currently in the beer glass:

Tree House Brewing Co. -- Green
    India pale ale
ABV: 7.5%; Pouring temperature: 47 °F; canning data: DRINK SOME GREEN THIS ST. PATRICK'S DAY 03/14/22

    4.17/5 rDev -8.8%
    look: 4.5 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Gorgeous pastel body; yellow-orange appearance; huge head, dense and creamy texture, rocky and white. Peach, pineapple and mango aroma; faint notes of oats and biscuit. Citrus-forward flavor with a sharp, phenol and alcohol bitterness; biscuit-like malt undertone. Heavy body; velvety; juiciness cut with a strong boozy dryness.

If you like New England style India pale ales and sharp, spiky bitterness, this is the beer for you.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

...a fine little beer even if I don't see it as being world-class...it does have an awesome appearance....
