I picked it up at the Beer Junction. I was very impressed with their selection. I think they even had a Hill Farmstead on tap.

Enjoying this fine beer and matching glass courtesy of @FBarber.

    Das Ist - Kellerbier

Beautiful colored beer, a light yet goldish brown, almost crystal clear, nice off white color and thin head that persists.

Beautiful toasted bread aroma, like when you toast it just enough to let all those great smells out. There is a really nice hop note that I would call earthy yet also fruity or floral at the same time.

Taste is just as great as the nose, toasty, same nice hop presence, a great overall rich breadiness to it.

This beer goes down so incredibly smooth; it has such an awesome richness to it but then goes down like water. Insanely drinkable, and a nice low but noticeable bitter finish.

This is truly an amazing beer Frank! Thank you for sharing this one. I love it.

Ok, it is time for a LIF.

I am headed to Miami on Friday for the funeral of my wife's grandfather who passed away on Tuesday morning after a long battle with alzheimer's. For those of you who do not know, my wife is Cuban - hence the Miami connection. While most of her family was born in Cuba, her grandfather was actually born in Spain and then moved to Cuba when he was a small boy (before coming to the US when Castro seized power in Cuba).

Here is the LIF: Guess what city/town/village/municipality in Spain her grandfather was born. The winner will be the person who gets the actual location correct. If no one correctly guesses the place, then the person with the guess that is physically located closest to the correct place wins.

    Fine print:
    • You may ask one "yes or no" question every day between now and May 12th to attempt to narrow down the location.
    • However, once you guess, it is final and you cannot ask any further questions.
    • Everyone gets one guess.
    • You may not guess a location that has previously been guessed by someone else.
    • Guesses must be submitted by the end of May 12th.
    • Everyone who is in this BIF is eligible.
The winner gets a box of beer from me that will likely include a nice selection of Miami beers.

    "real brains"?!?

In my humble opinion. The world is a crazy place. We are in control of nearly nothing, even the things we think we are in control of, we are not. If one sends beer, their control ends at the drop off. What happens to said beer is at the mercy of an immeasurable quantity of factors and happenstances, as is what occurs around said beer. The delivery driver drops the box on the recipient's garden gnome. Sad? Karma? Hell if I know. So, targeting families would be uncouth if it were not beer. But it IS beer. ALL IS GOOD.

And hell, in this chaos, collateral damage is just icing on the cake.

Dirty peach-colored body; pretty hazy; nice head, rocky and lasting, fairly creamy texture. Outstanding smell; fresh yellow pitted fruit; peach and tangerine. Superb flavor; citrus-like esters; oats and cracker grain; moderate hop bitterness. Medium-heavy body; coarse feel; some alcohol dryness and citrus bite.

All in all, a nice hazy India pale ale, fresh citrus presence with a nice malt balance with a restrained alcohol note. Balanced and tasty.

That could be a loaded question for many reasons. My neighbor is from Spain, her grandfather was in "Franco's army" and while he was "conservative" he did not like where Franco was going. Oh and his wife was Basque. So...it's complicated.

Another beer from Canada. I would classify this one as a hazy pale ale. The hops taste similar to Ekuanot. Melon, mango, pineapple, wood, floral, bay leaves, and orange. It has a soft finish with a slight tannic mouthfeel. The head retention was mesmerizing and steadfast. Tasty beer. Thank you, Peter!

I had waited a few days to open and enjoy this one. I was planning to share it with my wife, as she appreciates the non-hazy, bitter, ‘real’ IPAs as she calls them. But, she hasn’t been in the mood and has been rather busy. She told me to go ahead and she’d share it the next time I had one. I told her it was unlikely I’d see another one of these anytime soon, but I am good at following directions.

Pours a bright cheerful gold with ample head that dissipates slowly leaving a good deal of lacing as the beer is consumed.

The aroma is fantastic. Big pine and citrus notes. So enticing.

The taste is even better. The big hop flavours are there - pine, citrus, grass and herbs. But, also present is an understated almost honey like sweet touch that makes this so complex and well rounded. Strong, but not excessive bitter finish.

    Moderate body.

This was such a pleasure to have for a second time. And the glass may even have made the beer taste that much better. I can’t thank you enough @2beerdogs Cheers!

I spent four years when I was young living in Galicia in a little town called Ares. The closet city about 20 minutes or so away was Ferrol…the birthplace of Franco.

    For history lover @beergoot

Galicia never gets mentioned when people talk about Spain but it is one of the coolest places. The mountains kept it secluded from a lot of historical influence (Roman, Muslim, etc.). It also has its own dialect, Gallego, which I still remember having to learn there in school but only the old heads really spoke still. The worlds greatest seafood, prehistoric villages all over, oh and bagpipes, in Spain, who would’ve thought. Thinking back it makes me think historically it was “the wildlings” like in game of thrones, a romantic view. The scenery and culture there is so cool. Just a really neat place.
