Congrats on the 32yrs, @ovaltine, as well as the vacationing in Aruba. As someone who has been "revelling" in temperatures that haven't gone above freezing in nearly two weeks, I feel your pain.:wink:

Glad they all arrived ok; I think you’ll really enjoy the Tonewoods. @FBarber started a thread about best beers of 2022 and that was focal point for me, I hope you enjoy as well.

I don’t think drift line is is the base beer from driftwood but it seemed like a perfect pairing to send your way  oh and the slack tide is something else.

    Cheers

OK, it's LIF Sunday! I recently won @Dimidiata 's LIF, and so am LIFing it along.

Mine is very simple and is a true lottery. I have taken 5 names from this BIF, including my own, and totaled up the beer karma points, (as of 10:30am, Pacific time today 11/20) then divided by 5 to come up with a number.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to guess that Average number including the digit after the decimal. TPIR rules, be closest without going over. You have until the close of NBS next week (11/27) to get your entry in. 1 guess per entrant.

Your only clue is that all 5 BIF members have a minimum of 1,000 beer karma points.

Can received in BIF 16 from @russpowell , poured into a Seidel it produces a craggy rocky off-white three finger foam caps over a copper colored clear liquid with numerous active micro carbonation streams

    Aroma is toasted malts, ready

Taste is hop forward with a bitterness ahead of the typical malty sweetness

Sudsy , gentle hop bite lingers on the finish

    Good beer

...right off, I'm guessing a wild ale, probably with something like raspberry...

...dark maroon body, mostly clear; no lasting carbonation: (3.25)...fairly classic smell of brett and horse blanket; dark, red berry notes (3.5)...excellent tart berry flavor; raspberry and blackberry with a bit of cherry; jammy (4.25)...heavy mouthfeel with a velvety smoothness; acidic; tart juiciness (4.25)...overall: (4.0)...

I've not had this double fancy version that you've got there, but when I lived in Austin, the base Pecan Porter from (512) was one of my absolute favourites in the area.

Obec I think doesn't really get any love because it's on the same block as Stoup and Reuben's (and just around the corner from Great Notion, Fair Isle, Lagunitas, Bale Breaker, Lucky Envelope, and probably another handful that I can't think of off the top of my head at the moment), and they specialize primarily in traditional and especially czech styles, which aren't necessarily the most high profile styles. But they seem to do what they do quite well!

If you've got any wiggle room in your schedule, let me know when you're coming up and I'd love to get a chance to say hello and buy you one last beer for the box

    ... @Dimidiata Mystery Beer #3 reveal:

Highland Park Brewery -- Philosophy of Love: Superstition
Barrel aged rustic saison w/marionberries, black currant, and mint
    ABV: 6.3%; pouring temperature: 45 °F; bottling info: n/a

    look: 3.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4

Dark maroon body, mostly clear; no lasting carbonation. Fairly classic smell of brett and horse blanket; dark, red berry notes. Excellent tart berry flavor; raspberry and blackberry with a bit of cherry; jammy. Heavy mouthfeel with a velvety smoothness; acidic; tart juiciness.

This was a mystery beer from Beer It Forward #16. My initial impression based on the looks and smell was some sort of wild ale with raspberry or blackberry. I'd say I wasn't too far off in my guess. In hind sight, I get some of the woody barrel aging qualities. I can't say I picked up mint but the marionberry (blackberry) was quite evident. Overall, a very nice beer.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

...wish I wasn't under the weather (although it's not too bad), but figured I need to have at least one beer this weekend...fruit juice - its good for what ails ya...:sunglasses:
