I decided I just didn't trust this box enough to send earlier this week ...

... so I have re-purposed another box, re-packed everything, and added a few more beers to fill the extra space.

In the meantime, my packaging efforts were aided by @budsNpils who sent me an entire crowler of Lone Pint's Yellow Rose, an absolutely legendary Mosaic SMASH IPA that has been near the top of my wants list for a long time:

I don't know if I never knew this was Mosaic, or if I forgot (I knew it was a SMASH IPA). This beer delivers waves of Mosaic goodness, and it's absolutely a throwback to the glory days of WC-style IPAs. I can definitely see why this was such a smashing success ( ) back when it was first released.

Definitely a showcase for the hop. I'm fortunate to have caught it at a point where the dank potential of Mosaic isn't at its highest (although it's quite noticeable), but unfortunately not quite at its juiciest, either. Bitterness is moderate to high; not particularly dry until the very finish, which brings along some citrus peel-like bitterness.

I can imagine absolutely loving this way back when. For my palate (and experience) today, it's quite enjoyable - really damn good - but there's no way I could see myself quite approaching the lofty score it's attained here.

@Whyteboar If I have done this correctly and my assumption that you aren't holding onto a half filled bottle of Oberon is also correct, you have 15 - 12 ounce bottles of Oberon still around - so 180 ounces. This is my final guess.

Why did you keep them? you can't throw away a beer ...

@FBarber - you know what assumptions do, right? I assure you I am not holding on to half a bottle of any beer, let alone Oberon.

That’s the best beer brewed in Texas - by a LOT, IMHO. IJS. I drank GALLONS of that the year we lived in McKinney (2017).

If you want to capture the spirit of these NBS BIFers, this beer - and this sender - does that perfectly. Our friend @Roy_Hobbs sent me a box of beers last fall because he remembered that I loved raspberry in beer because of my Dad’s love for raspberries (RIP Chief).

It was a world class assortment of wild/farmhouse ales, and this was one of that lot. He did that for no other reason than he knew I’d enjoy the beers.

And THAT is what this BIFer is all about. You are an absolute rockstar, Ross.

Pours the most beautiful raspberry color you’ve ever seen with a sudsy raspberry colored head that flees the scene of this beer with extreme prejudice. The nose is raspberry purée by the gallon and a nice amount of oak.

The taste is raspberries, raspberry jam on a spoon, then some more raspberries - and a nice bit of funky juju, then a nice little oat at the very back of the palate. This is absolutely delicious.

The mouthfeel is per the style, a spritzy dance across your palate. Quite simply, this is a world class wild ale, especially if you love raspberries.

    Raises hand.
