New Beer Ratings in 2017

I'm at 269 for the year. My 2017 highlight was completing the quest for 104 styles, making Rogue's Roguenbier Rye my "Beer of the Year."

 

24 beers, which is ~1/5th of my total. Down from 38 last year, most likely due to my drinking more of my own homebrew. I try my best to only review at home, when I have the time, clean palate, and mindframe to do so, so I don't add a lot of reviews. Certainly drank more than 24 new beers this past year.

 

Nice, I've been working on all the styles and every state. Where'd you find the pale mild, sahti, and kvass?

 

Columbus, Ohio. The pale mild was Hoof Hearted Belloq, which I found on tap at Savor Growl. I found a couple of different examples of kvass at a Ukranian grocery store. My first Sahti was Off Color's Bare Bear, which may be available in your area. We have it on the shelves here in Waterloo and Cedar Falls.

I don't write reviews for beers because I don't use the existing reviews for purchase research. I typically only rate beers that I have added after I add a new brewery or a new beer from a homer brewery, or when I really like a beer. I have 59 new ratings for 2017 and only 107 overall. I'll make a comment about some beers but not enough verbiage to count as a review. Place reviews with overall comments about the beers is the way I prefer to use my 'talents'.
