Thought I would post in here in case anyone is interested.
There is a new beer festival in Belfast, the ABV Beer Festival to be precise. It is running from the 22–23 May 2015 in the fairly awesome Titanic Drawing Offices.
A lot of great breweries will be in attendance mostly from UK and Ireland, but with some coming from further afield like To ol from Denmark. Gutted I won't be able to attend myself as I will be in Belgium (every cloud and all that).

More information can be found at the link below.

All being well I should be going... looking forward to it. Good to have something new and hopefully it will become a regular event

They already have some plans for next year so all good, especially for me as I will make sure I am free this time.

Yeah, think they are going for the IndyMan Beer Con type festival which has similar prices. So you will get a lot of one off beers and collaborations just for the festival, more out there beers and most will be served by the brewer if not someone from the brewery so you can ask questions. Having been to the last 3 Belfast Beer Festivals in Belfast Ulster Hall it was really the same type of fair, same beers and nothing wildly exciting, so hoping this is different and if so would be willing to pay the price. mdagnew you can let me know if it is

I'll be in Belfast visiting from the USA during that weekend, but I'm not sure I'll be able to make it to this fest. Are there at least any good pubs I should check out if I want to focus on local beer?

Also, with the Eurovision finals being that Saturday night, should I expect it to dominate televisions in all the pubs, or will it be mostly business as usual?

The festival is sold out now unfortunately :slight_frown:
As for pubs check out The Garrick as it stocks a fair range of local beers. Also The Sunflower Pub, The Hudson and The Woodworkers all do local output and a variety of different beers outside of the normal generic beers like Guinness.
If you are coming this far visit The Crown, sort of must do tourist thing, really old and beautiful pub with various cask beers on tap.
As for the Eurovision they may put it on screens in some pubs, but it should be mostly business as usual.
Hope you enjoy your stay here.

Thanks for the tips--I'll definitely check out those pubs!
