Here is a beer coming from New Belgium that will be a new release in their Lips of Faith Series. This is a English style barleywine brewed with fresh blackberries.

Bottle Description: Smooth as the silk ascot you should be wearing while sipping this barley wine ale brewed with fresh blackberries. A trip under your nose reveals aromas of toasted oak, caramel toffee and burgundy. Sip with purpose.

From New Belgium: The darker the berry, the sweeter the barley wine-that's what we thought when brewing our newest Lips of Faith release, the first barley wine in New Belgium history. Blackberry Barley Wine channels the elegant spirit of a classic English barley wine, but with a kiss of blackberry to elevate the sip beyond convention. A deep wash of caramelized sugar and toasted bread, courtesy of Caramel Munich malts, adopts subtle laces of floral, fruity berries for a pairing as proper as sipping snifters beside a crackling fireplace. Warming, rich and complex, curl up to a pour of Blackberry Barley Wine this winter and toast to the finer things in life.

    Style: English Barleywine w/ Blackberries
    Availability: 22oz Bottles, Draft.
    Release: TBA
    ABV: 12%
    IBU: 50

Interesting if not really really weird. I can see this being either good or horrible.

Could be amazing. I have been pretty impressed with the last few. Would definately pick a couple up.

Considering it's an English Barleywine, I like the chances of it not sucking.

Love me some English BW. Love blackberries. think they might get lost is a good BW, so be interested to see how it comes out. Hopefully one does not overpower the other and it ends in a well blended beer...

think of blackberry jam spread on the traditional graham cracker/fignewton cookie flavor you usually get from barleywines. could be amazing or slightly not, it will depend how how authentic the fruit aspect tastes.

Blackberries tend to be fairly tart. I think the "this could be really good or really bad" factor will depend greatly on how they attempt to balance that tartness. Can either be well balanced and give just a hint of pucker before a gentle sweetness, or it may be a massive sugar bomb. Just my thoughts.

I've been let down several times and I'm on the threshold of giving up on new LOF beers. This may be the swing vote.

I definitely want to get a bottle or two of this! I'm a huge fan of English-style barleywines, and the addition of blackberry intrigues me.

My biggest wonder is how the house yeast strain will impact the overall beer. Big fruit esters combined with actual blackberries in a malt bomb high gravity BW... I'll try it without a doubt.

I'll buy this because I buy every BW I haven't tried yet.

Probably would have been better aged in used Smucker's jars.

Had it at Avery's strong ale fest. Very delicious, excited to hear they are bottling now.

@NBB_Chris This the same batch that was poured at Vail Big Beers? Remember it being a bit boozy then, but had some def potential. Guessing five months of aging would do wonders.
