To be as specific as possible, and to keep the information as fresh and relivant as possible, I will start a new thread monthly to keep the residents and visitors of our fine city up to date and in the know.

First up is Dancing Gnome. Discuss what you have had or what you're looking forward to.

Also anything else known on the horizon?

To less fanfare, Allegheny City Brewing opened their doors today, I think.

They did, I tried a few of their beers at a soft opening and did t really get a good chance to judge what I was having. The space is really cool, but small. I hope they have dialed in their core beers before trying to do too many things. I will most likely visit in the near future.

From Roundabout's website they will be canning Jacked Up O’Lantern tomorrow. Always a great brew to sip on this time of year.

Went today and had one of the last pours of the jacked up base with coconut. Really super beer, he only did 2 kegs that way. I always look forward to the jacked up.

Does anyone anticipate Voodoo Homestead like Grand Opening crowds for Dancing Gnome tomorrow?

I wouldn't. When Voodoo Homestead opened they were a known commodity with a ton of barrel-aged beers on tap. That said, I wouldn't expect them to be dead either. It's a grand opening of a brewery that's had some pre-opening hype.

Stopped at the Dancing Gnome around 2 yesterday, the place had a nice crowd...~50 some people. Had the Pharmakon Pale Ale...nice tasting hoppy pale ale with a light bitter finish. I was impressed with how the place looked and will be back.

Beautiful spot with a lot of seating. Lustra was the best of the bunch for me.

Lustra was indeed delicious. I liked Aevum as well. Pharmakon was nice. I did not care for Wonka.

Has anyone ever seen schlenkerla mini kegs in the area? I'm really wanting to get one or two to take up to my buddies hunting camp next month.

I don't think the wholesaler brings them in. Call frank Fuhrer wholesale and ask.

Dancing Gnome is legit. Went there and tried a splash of everything...left with a growl of Lustra.
Nice place. Refreshing to see an opening with a sizable investment . The location is really nice and you can see that a lot of money and effort has been put into the opening and recipes.
    Pretty excited about this place

Headed to Pittsburgh for the Pats/Steelers game, and was planning on stopping by Brew Gentlemen. Do they only have growler fills and random bottle releases? Any other breweries in the area that are worth hitting? Bottle shops with beers that might not be available in the Boston area?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes they only have growlers. Sadly if you get there on the weekend, most of the time the high profile BG beers are picked over and tapped out for the week. Still worth a shot though. I would definitely check out Voodoo in Homestead and the recently opened Dancing Gnome in Sharpsburg. Both of those are less than 10 miles out of the city. Roundabout brewery in Lawrencville is also solid. As far as bottle shops Pittsburgh doesn't really have anything spectacular. Giant Eagle market district in the Shadyside neighborhood may be best bet.

Anyone know the inside beer scoop with the Teutonia Mannerchor?
A friend of mine said they got a tour from the owner, as a prospective member. Supposedly they get different types of Real German Beer shipped in from the Deutschreich, that can be found "only five or six" other locations in the US.

Edit: deetz? May be worth the $120/yr

It's a really cool old building and the food is amazing. From my understanding, the rare German beers they have are things like draft bitburger and draft Ayinger. If I lived in the northside I think I'd consider joining but not for the beer.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll definitely be checking out Voodoo and Dancing Gnome. Might bring up some local beers from around here, most likely Trillium, so if anyone has any local offerings, would be willing to trade or share.

Anyone know where I might still be able to find a case of Stone Xocoveza? We're doing a group beer advent calendar at work and was hoping to bring that to share. I was out of town this weekend when my local distributor got it in.

Went out to Dancing Gnome on Saturday. Very impressed. Great beers, great people and great atmosphere. +1 for having a tv in the main area to watch the Pens game etc... Promising future. Great addition to the Pittsburgh market.

So on the off chance that Wolf signs this new bill that has made it through the floor, this means we can now have been shipped in from other states. @clerkpalmer no more Ohio runs for France44.

I was under the impression that it was shipping within the state only.

Edit: Reading the article again, that doesn't appear to be the case. Happy to be wrong on that initial impression...

Wolf just released a statement in support of the bill stating he's looking forward to signing it. That's good news.
