Comrade and the B&B for sure. Copper Kettle is right on the cusp of that area, too. There's also a really nice W.O.B. although because of the B&B's 40 taps I rarely visit.

Been to all of those. How's mu, fermentia, fiction, or deep draft. Little bit away but all new to me.

    Mu - Under no circumstances.
FERMÆNTRA - not half bad. I know some people that love it and some people that don't, but I certainly enjoyed it when it first opened.
Fiction - just went back a week ago today for the "it's been 6 months, let's see how she does now" visit and it was better. Not great, but better.
Deep Draft - 97% sure they're still not open.

EDIT: So of those 4, check out FERMÆNTRA

DOUBLE EDIT: I think I wanna go to Mu now. It was so bad before I gotta see if there's anything else.

Mu tasted like someone selling homebrew the time I went there. It wasn't awful homebrew, but it wasn't particularly good either. The guys that run the place are nice, though.
Coda is only a few miles from there and is much better. Their companion pub, Cedar Creek also has some sneaky good taps. Caution East is also in that general area.

Agreed on trying Coda, but if he's in Glendale then Mu was already a trek and a half...

Just catching up on the last half page of this thread and I realize how many new taprooms I have yet to set foot in. Holy shit...

So it sounds like none of those are all that great. Did more map searching..what about Baere, Declaration, Alpine Dog, or Black Sky? Any of those to avoid or are solid?

I've been to Black Sky a few times and so far I'm not really digging any of their beers. I am a metal guy so I love the theme. But so far the beers just haven't done it for me. My last trip I had their Ale Of Minerva Imperial Brown Ale and chocolate mint stout. Both beers tasted good on the first few sips, but got worse the further into the glass I went. Not that they were bad, just not so great.

Coda I have liked. Their 180 Gram and especially the BA 180 Gram are good nearing great and Rosalita Java Chocolate Porter was also solid.

I stopped by Mu the week of their grand opening a while back, they only had like 4 beer available and they didn't even have the one I wanted to try, which was the Boone's Maple Cream Porter. I tried their raspberry, IPA and Brown I think. Meh, not bad but even though I could drive by it on the way home from work with a minimal detour, I don't. I will give them another try at some point, maybe when they have a beer I'm interested on Kill the Keg night so I'm only out a buck if it sucks.

I've been to Fiction a handful of times mainly because it's a mile from where I work. I had high hopes for their 42 - Donut Porter: donuts, maple syrup aged with bourbon and oak foeders. How could it be bad? Well it wasn't, but literally none of the above mentioned flavors showed up in the beer. It was a respectable tasting porter, but all that extra delicious stuff just didn't come through. So I generally default to Feely Effects Green Tea Chocolate Milk Stout, it's a beer I don't mind drinking but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

We hit 4 Noses for the 1 year last weekend, we liked pretty much everything we tried, Ritual Rivers Porter, Reciprocal Imperial Stout, also a BA version of their Barleywine was pretty good too. We didn't get to try a full pour of El Jefe, but we liked the sip we tried. It's a trek out there, but we'll definitely hit them up again.

Kokopelli: we disliked pretty much every beer we tried, and the ones we didn't dislike were tolerable at best. Granted we focused on the various flavored versions of their Cow Tipper milk stout. But every one of them tasted like they just squirted flavor shots into the beer and said "Now it's vanilla!". I was concerned when I saw how many variations they had on at one time that this was what they had done, it's just unfortunate I was right. Plus their food was plain terrible: DO NOT EAT THERE! But their staff was nice.

Mockery has a nice vibe, I had the same bartender both times and he's a cool accommodating guy. Really I've only had the Imperial Coffee stout which is pretty darn good. I did sample the Salted Scoth Ale, pretty good but it isn't one of my usual styles. It sucks for them that the street easiest to go down to get there has been blocked for construction. But eventually they'll be in good shape with The Source and new Great Divide right there.

The jury is still out on Beryl's for me. I had their BA Imp Stout, Firecatcher, which was real good, but so far that's the only beer I've come close to liking. I'll only go if they advertise beers I really want to try, they definitely aren't a pop-in and see spot for me.

Spangalang had a good Imp Stout, Night Walker. They also had a red wine version which was OK, but I preferred the regular. I tried something else but can't remember the name or style off-hand it was a style I usually don't go for, but ended up being pretty good. The negative is that if you have to street park, you need to cross the lightrail tracks and make your way through some hookers and drug deals to get there. And that's at 3 in the afternoon, I'm not so sure I'll ever go there once the street lights come on (if there are any).

Friends posted on Facebook last night about being at the new Breckenridge Brewery on Santa Fe. From what I can tell just the restaurant/bar is open now with more to come on Fathers Day.

Hopefully once Breck is up and running down south they'll finally get their shit under control. Right around the time the brewer at Black Sky left they totally went south. Sometimes I wonder if they even have a QA/QC department and if they do - if they can taste diacetyl. I've gotten more recent duds from those guys than any other brewery that size. Ever.

Other than 72 and 471, I haven't had a Breck brew I've given a shit about in a long long time.

What's everyone's thoughts on goldspot brewery? Heard a few different things and figured I'd ask you good folks here.

GoldSpot was nice. Each beer I had could have used a bit of tweaking, but none were bad or had defects.

Declaration has a cool space walking distance from the light rail. Their QC guy has had medical issues so hadn't been around a lot. They've had some astringency issues at first, but are coming around. I enjoyed their Kolsch, although @Domingo would say it's an American blonde. We may Jello wrestle over it.

I went to Baere on a recent trip and the place seems pretty laid back and they make some tasty sours. I could probably drink their Berliner all day, but I didn't like the DIPA I had as much (solid, but nothing I'd seek out). It's also right down the street from TRVE.

I went to both Baere and Alpine Dog recently.

Alpine Dog was meh. No off flavors or anything, just middle of the road beers.

I liked Baere. Lots of Barrel Aged Brews, some decent IPAs and some good experimental beers.
