Could be better in three weeks. See my previous post:

Agreed that NEBCO sets the pace for CT brewers. I tried Wet Willy last night - full of flavor and Howitzer-grade alcohol. Terrific stuff.

Re: Two Roads, their Ol' Factory is an excellent "weaner" (a beer to get BMC-drinking friends into good beer). Possibly my top domestic lager right now. Of course many would say same or better re: Elm City Pils.

wet willy was such an underappreciated beer. sat around on shelves next to far inferior beers for years. they've understandably stopped brewing it (no one buys it!). personally i love it.

re: domestic pils, elm city is pretty good. haven't tried two roads. definitely give southampton keller pils a try if you haven't. i think berkshire brewing company's czech pilsner should be coming out pretty soon, which is always awesome.

re: NEBCO taplist, i didn't stop in on my way back to NYC today. did i miss anything? also, should i drop in friday on my to MA? i want to hear an answer that starts with "gold" and ends with "stock" ...

I think fresh-ish Victory Prima Pils or SA Noble Pils that haven't been sitting around on CT shelves for years at a time are some of the best pilsners in the world. I don't find that elm city really stacks up against those, even though I do greatly enjoy it. I didn't enjoy Ol' Factory, I found the dry hopping unnecessary and overpowering

1 part seahag, two parts srum. I like to hop up my mediocre saisons and wheat beers.

I believe Chardonneighbor is the best beer to come out of CT...

Not that this is the right thread to ask, but how was Back East and Broad Brook?

Broad Brook, the beers and atmosphere were pretty lacking. That said, I was there at 1PM on a rainy Saturday. Could be a fun place at night, but that still won't help the beer itself. The brown and porter were ok, as was 1 of the IPA's. Mostly forgettable stuff though.

Back East had better beers and a slightly more fun and lively atmosphere. Worth stopping by for a quick few tastes if you're in the area.

That's what I figured... since they're both close to me, I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Doesn't look like i am, though I'll probably hit them both soon enough anyway.

The way we did it worked out well IMO. Broad Brook-->Back East-->Hooker.

Thanks to the OP for the good general opening info. However I'm left wondering if there is a way to actually know what NEBCO will have on tap other than phone them? Seems neither their website nor their Facebook page provides that info, hence this thread? I'd like to make the hour and a half trip down in often obscenely heavy traffic but don't want to waste my time if they are only offering stuff I've already had and am not so much in love with to make the trip.

Facebook and twitter are the most reliable and updated rather frequently and are usually the source for updates in this thread, unless someone is posting that was just at the brewery. Calling is always best, but I find they don't always answer the phone if they are busy with customers. Sorry there isn't a better answer.

Edit: NEBCO does a pretty good job updating FB and Twitter when something changes, except for special releases which have been done silently as of late.

I shot them an email asking what they would be pouring when I was coming through and they got back to me same day.

OP: "This thread is focused on a single issue: what's on tap for growler fills. Since the kind gentlemen at the brewery often have more important things to do than update their Facebook page and website (ha!) with this info, having a BA thread devoted to it serves a clear and focused purpose."

I forgot about this intro paragraph. I agree. And they did post on Facebook Saturday Apr. 26 that they had Sea Hag and Scrumtulescent saison in "nearly unlimited amounts."

Thanks for that info! The first time I went to their Facebook page I did not see the most recent update. But I can tell now that you are right.

Wet Willy is OK, it didn't age well in my opinion, too boozy. However the Friar's Quad aged amazingly well, and tastes fantastic right now. I will miss it more than the Wet Willy.

And if you're looking for a Saturday brewery visit that won't leave you wishing you went to NEBCO instead, try Tree House Brewing in Monson Massachusetts, just East of Springfield and about an hour and fifteen minutes from New Haven.

Thoroughly agreed on Friar's Quad. Drinking INCREDIBLY well. It matured into a fantastic complex beer with big toffee and caramel flavors. Good call.

Now knowing that Friars Quad is no more I'm glad I cleared out the shelf when I found like 5 bottles at a liquor store a couple months ago.

Is Sea Hag and Elm City readily available at whatever stores NEBCo distributes to? Headed to CT next weekend, not going by the brewery but want to pick up some cans at least. Would love to stumble upon some fresh Bot cans.

Elm City, 668, Scrumtrulescent, Gandhi-Bot, Coriolis, and Gold Stock were on tap today, which was amazing. The hour+ line was less amazing, but I suppose it's to be expected when so many excellent beers are available at once. Enjoying my first Gold Stock growler of the season as I type. Mmmmmmmmmmmm. :grinning:

Heading down tomorrow, expecting to be in that area around 1 or 2pm. Any idea of what kind of wait I'm looking at. I'll be carpooling with friends en route to NYC and don't want to make them wait an extraordinary amount of time. Cheers and thanks!
