Confirmed gone at the depot. No bottles were held back, all sold, none left.
Glad I decided to make the trip last Saturday. Guess we should expect this from now on.
Does anyone know when the next New Glarus R&D release is? I'm guessing 2016 but do we have any clue yet?
I'm sure there'll be a R&D release in August 2016. Aside from that, who knows? We'll find out in a little while, I'm sure.
Why would you say August? I mean im sure your right but I would expect 4 like last year.
Because they always do a great taste release (August), that is the only one we know about for now
The R&D releases in 2015 were on the following dates:
May 7-9 - Wild Bitter
June 11-13 - Vintage 2014
August 6-8 - Bramble Berry Bourbon Barrel
October 8-10 - 2015 Golden Ale
If they do 4 releases again in 2016, they might follow a similar schedule.
I hope they do. I didn't make it up for any this year and really want to get up there for them in 2016
Here's to hoping that Great Taste weekend isn't August 12th! Same weekend as the Eaux Claires Festival.
Pretty sure the Great Taste is a standard second Saturday in August event. Not sure what the Eau Claire Festival is, but if it is a beer event, it seems they would of known.
Nope, not a beer fest. Really great music festival, but lots of cross-over given the # of beer t-shirts I saw there last summer.
Wouldn't even be a question for me. Eaux Claires every time. Still kicking myself for not going last year. Just bring a bunch of good beer along. Win-win.
That would be a tough choice but I'll take the awesome music at Eaux Claires and the Summit Saga that I drank in large quantities.
To bring it back to NG, if they do it the same way this year it would still be possible to hit NG for their release on Thursday, drive up to EC after, and drink the R&D bottles at the campsite. Win-win.
The Great Taste of the Midwest beer festival is held annually at Olin Park in Madison on the second Saturday in August.
I'm going to split the difference and wear my Bon Iver t shirt to the GToMW.
Expecting something to be exactly the same as last year in the beer world is the easiest way to be wrong.
But as someone said they have always done a R&D for GTMW weekend. 2015 was the only year they did more than one release. There probably will be more than one, since their new wild cave was the reason they upped production, but until they say, we cannot assume anything.
They've been releasing r&d beers on gtmw weekend for a loooong time. There's probably a less than 1% chance they don't.
I agree with your odds, but I'm not sure I'd call it a "long time" with quite so many O's. 2010 was the first year of the GTMW releases, and they didn't release anything in 2011.
"New Glarus Brewing will have 3 R&D wild/sour releases this year: June 10-11, Aug. 12-13 and Sept. 23-24. Further details are TBA."
Per WSJbeerbaron on twitter. Deb responded to the post too
Looks like only Friday/Saturday releases this year... and only 3 releases
Also, New Glarus is also planning another brewery-only release this year: a "special lagered pilsner," beginning sometime later this year.
Any chanced this could be the original Two Women?
So excited. I love the very idea of a brewery-only lager.
August 12/13 will be a decision-filled weekend. Great Taste/R&D or Eaux Claires Festival? No brainer in my book, but that's a nice influx of people driving through the state that weekend!
Question regarding the 2015 R&D. What was the price tag for this beer? Thanks for the answers!
I think it was $10 when it first came out.
This thread rose from the dead just in time for Halloween.
If only the first post of the thread was read as it mentions the price.
Haha sorry for that I'm a dick it seems!
