I hope it is just a lousy photo, otherwise those are hideous. Very excited about Moon Man in a can though.

It reminds me of the terrible powerpoint presentations I made in middle school. All it needs is some sweet rotating graphics.

Ugh I was really hoping that they would just be super simple black and silver (or various colors for spotted cow, etc). I had a vision in my head similar to the existing bottles' simplicity. I am not a fan of the gradient colors at all. That being said, it ain't gonna stop me from buying moon man cans as soon as I see them!

Moon man in an ugly can > moon man in bottles

I hope they have these ready for purchase for the R&D release next week!

Sadly every product is changing to this packaging. 6 packs, 12 packs and cans. Not sure about the fruits though.

I honestly can't figure out what they are going for with the gradient (and random white line between 'New' and 'Glarus' where gradient doesn't apply?) on the new bottles. I picked up some Bubbler and it just looks like the label got stained somehow. The 3/4 border on the neck label is also odd. I'm glad they didn't do a complete design overhaul, but these choices are head-scratchers. I've always thought New Glarus had classy looking bottles but this stuff really distracts from Deb's awesome artwork.

I could care less about the cans/bottles - although I agree the new gradient based labels look pretty bad in that picture. When I saw the bubbler bottle I thought it looked weird, but assumed it was just a special design, guess not.

Please though, leave the fruits alone. Those are great looking bottles.

Think you're safe there, those just got a facelift a few months ago.

Is it true the new cans wil not have Julian dating on them? But instead use some retailer pull code?

I hope not...will be buying way less NG if true.

Some posts in the other NG thread are indicating bottles are already reflecting pull dates instead of bottling dates.

Well then, is there a consistent relationship between brewed on date and pull date? I'd assume 6 months for most beers? All is needed at this point is an extra math step? Or am I wrong to assume any sort of consistency?

Yes, if/when that information is ever shared as to what New Glarus feels is appropriate shelf life (which may differ based on style), all you have to do is count backwards by that to figure out the package date. Not sure why everyone is so up in arms over this. Some breweries make and package beer for longevity better than others, and based on a few experiences I've had, it seems New Glarus has a lot of confidence that they're pretty good at both. They don't seem like the kind of people who would just skimp on quality because they can, I think they deserve a little more credit than that. Maybe they just got sick of the whole "3 week old IPA is too old" emails.

Yup; as long as retailers are doing their job correctly you shouldn't have to worry about old beer on the shelf.

Yup, and the ones that didn't care before won't care now anyway. As a retailer who does care, sometimes it's been a point of contention with distributors about what's within code and ok to drink or not based on "packaged on" codes. This makes it pretty cut and dry that if a beer is past its pull date, they'll be taking it back.

I actually really like the Bubbler bottle design but those Spotted Cow cans are just terrible.

Oh, the humanity! Those bottles are much worse than I imagined they could be. I probably care more than I should, but it honestly looks like someone peed on them. I'm warming up to the cans though, they remind me of playing around with Kid Pix in computer class as a kid.

The bottle redesign is ugly, but pales in comparison to the cans. That being said, I can't wait to get those moon man cans.

As long as the quality of what's in the bottles/cans doesn't change I don't give a shit what they look like.

Apparently Deb designed them herself, which makes them kinda cute in a my-grandma-knitted-me-this-atrocious-sweater-isn't-she-adorable kind of way.

    But my instagram pictures!

Just on my way back through Wisconsin yesterday and stopped at 4 different places (from the northern part of the state all the way south) including Woodmans in Janesville and none of them had cans of moon man. All said the same thing "had one big drop of them and not a thing since". Not a big deal because I still bought plenty of bottles of it. I just want the cans for the boat/cooler honestly. Are people just snatching these up or did New Glarus not really anticipate the demand? Or did I just stop at every wrong spot in the state? haha

I think you just got unlucky, or the stores don't know what they're are doing for reorders. My friend who owns a store says they can keep ordering them, but they are low quantities. Limited to 4 12-packs for a small-ish store. I've purchased at liquor stores, grocery stores, and even Kwik Trip in Johnson Creek.

New Glarus was initially doing small drops to track sales but now there isn't a limit on how much a store can order. I've been ordering about 4-8 cases a week. They're around, I just think you got really unlucky.

Thanks @Vitacca and @hustadaj . Doesn't surprise me that I was unlucky at all. No big deal, I'm up near Rice Lake about once a month so I'll find some yet. Thanks for the info!
