New in Kentucky

My can is delicious... Bourbon infused toffee... Terrific...

 

London Balling is fantastic when it comes out right. Sounds like the first bottling was great. The second bottling was infected (took a while to fully develop). Cans are hit and miss? I know someone who drainpoured a can, but some cans seem to be great. Glad you got a great one because that's a wonderful beer.

 

Mine was awesome.... Wish I had more... World class English BW...

 

Tilley I can say for a fact the bottled London Balling was a very nice barleywine.

 

Finally in Louisville and settling down. Is London Balling still available anywhere around? I'd like to try it if possible.

 

Saw a few at the Springhurst Liquor Barn last weekend, and I've seen it around Lexington still. The $10 price tag probably turned a few people off.

 

Call Old Town (a place you're going to want to visit anyway) and the various Liquor Barns. LB Fern Valley might be a good bet.

 

I had one Saturday night and really liked it. Just put another bottle in the fridge to try with a cleaner palate. If I hadn't just blown my beer budget for the forseeable future, I'd go back and get more.

 

A bunch of cans at Springhurst LB as of last week. I haven't had a bad experience with them yet, so the price was the only thing keeping me away.

 

Thanks guys. On a relatively fixed beer budget until after my wedding this winter... Gotta spend those beers wisely and I just can't pass up a BA Barleywine!

 

I've seen a few scoff at it, but I've had several cans and sent a few others out to friends and all have been nothing short of spectacular. Maybe people on here didn't like them, but around town I've heard no one talking about this batch being bad. If it were me, I'd get one and not worry a thing about the batch being bad.

 

Any word on Black Note showing up anywhere in Lou/Lex? Never had it and was wanting to try to find it this year.

 

I hear that Black Note is coming, just not sure when. I know it showed up in PA this week, so maybe KY won't be too far behind.

 

Already hit Louisville, Hamburg, and Beaumont. Already gone from them as far as I've heard

 

Hopefully some trickles in to some other places around the area. Had it a couple of years ago and thought it was great and would love to try it again.

 

apparently old town had it in louisville on tuesday. i haven't heard of anyone else in town getting it. i'm hoping it appears on the bottle list at holy grale.

 

My louisville rep said he hadn't heard anything lol. It's a good beer but I swear people act like they've never had a BA stout before.

 

I've heard rumors that it will be at Hop Cat in Lexington on their bottle list soonish. When? Who knows.

 

Trappe will lie about that stuff all. the. time. Wait a few years, it will show up on the cellar list.
