if you've seen my past posts I'm trying to get into IPA's. I had a Anchor Liberty a long time ago and the citrusy floral hop taste blew me away, it was amazing! So I knew IPAs were the next step. The Problem with Liberty is that I'm tasting a metallic after-taste EVERY time I drink it. I don't know if this is just the brew or if it's actually a characteristic for the style to the untrained palate. The only other IPA I've had is sweetwater IPA and I didn't much enjoy it, rather than the hops being floral like in Liberty they were kind of tangy, I was not a fan. Can someone direct me to something I might enjoy. I want to find that perfect beer and I KNOW it's somewhere in IPA or a Hoppy APA. Thanks!

    Where are you located?
If east coast, I strongly recommend Victory Hop Devil, Ithaca Flower Power (if you can find it), or Dogfish 60 Minute IPA.
West coast IPAs I think you'd like are Lagunitas IPA or Anderson Valley Hop Ottin IPA (these can also be found on east coast).

    First, try Sierra Nevada Torpedo.
My next best suggestion is go with IPAs that are priced over $10 a six-pack. It isn't often that a higher price neccessarily means a better product, but with IPAs, much more often that not, it's true.

Stone IPA - probably the best IPA you can get there.

    If you are in TN...

    Try.
    1. Stone Pale Ale
    2. Stone IPA
    3. New Belgium Ranger IPA
    4. Oskar Blues Dales Pale Ale
    5. Terrapin Hopsecutioner
    6. Terrapin Hopzilla

Try a range of breweries and their IPA/DIPA offerings.

    Cheers!

    Lagunitas New Dogtown Pale

Anything Lagunitas for that matter. They are usually more hop forward beers no matter what the style is.

Actually it was 90 minute that got me totally into IPA's, believe it or not. Get a 90 minute on tap, NOT from a bottle. Maybe it was the sweetness or something, but it really did it for me years ago.

“I had a Anchor Liberty a long time ago and the citrusy floral hop taste blew me away …” Anchor Liberty Ale is brewed solely with Cascade Hops. So, you learned that you like the flavor/aroma of Cascade which is typically described as being citrusy.

You should seek out other IPAs which utilize Cascade Hops. A hop very similar to Cascade is Centennial. Bells Two Hearted Ale is solely hoped with Centennial hops and it has a pleasant citrusy flavor/aroma. Founders Centennial IPA is another nice choice.

    Cheers!

Sounds like you're looking for something on the balanced side. Perhaps Dogfish Head 60 Minute, Smuttynose Shoals Pale Ale, Great Divide Titan or even Sweetwater 420.

If you aren't against buying Goose Island products for reasons of their ownership, then their IPA would seem to be right up your alley. It's a great 'balanced' citrusy IPA.
