I should say, I'm pretty excited about Maine Brewing. Enjoyed a lot of their beers and look forward to some regular access that doesn't involve trading.

When fresh...Lunch, Another One, and MO are very very good. IMO, Another One may be the best IPA I've ever had. I hope they sit on shelves because that means less fighting over them.

I know this thread always seems very partial to ipas but king Titus and mean old Tom are very good as well

I liked Titus; Mean Old Tom, not so much.

Let's posit that it is the best IPA, is it twice as good? Because that is what you will be paying.

I think there are two camps. One likes 'balanced' IPAs and the other doesn't. I'm in the latter camp.

Yeah not crazy about the pricing but it's still a treat from time to time. Similar to my feelings on Jackie O's.

Hubris at Platform tonight! Was amazing stuff, up there with JuJu... It's a triple IPA (11% ABV), but hid the alcohol very well... Malt/Hops balanced and very drinkable for as big of a beer it is. Very well done.

Fuck yes! Can't wait! Only had one Maine beer and it was kinda old, but still good. Looking forward to this.

I.E. letting another brewing company brew their beer so it doesn't taste the same? Yeah, glad they aren't pulling that shit either because the Alpine drafts have not been impressive.

Got into a nice debate over Ohio IPA's... Thought about starting a poll. Didn't think it would fly in the 'Great Lakes' thread. So I figured I would just keep it close to home... However NOT to hijack this thread, I thought maybe you could add your 2 cents at the end of your regularly scheduled comment... if you so choose to.

    Better tag team combo?

Columbus IPA and Bodhi (not bottled but makes its way around on draft a bit)
    vs
Fat Heads Head Hunter and Hop Juju

(Also as a dark horse Brew Kettle's White Rajah and El Lupulo Libre)

Jackie O's, Great Lakes, Madtree, Hoof Hearted and Insert your own which is also available as a IPA/IIPA combo bottled or canned... Our debate just happened to be mostly Fat Heads/Columbus (Brew Kettle too even though their double isn't bottled yet)

Feel free to participate or pass... Cheers!

And your the paradigm of all things light and good!! Haha

On topic, pretty sure the IBUsive hop change was due to availability more than anything else. At least that is the answer I got.

Don't forget JAFB with New Stunt and Rain Delay.

Fat Head's beats Columbus on sheer numbers alone, although both their IPA and Bodhi are great beers. Also, I don't think Head Hunter is FH's best IPA any more.

I have had Bohdi quite a few times now and I personally don't find it all that impressive... The flavor profile I guess is something I don't care for.

    @BrewUSA

My vote would easily be Head Hunter and JuJu... Followed by the Brew Kettle duo of White Rajah and El Lupulo. Last would be the CBC duo.

    In order:

    CBC
    Brew Kettle
    Fat Head's

Mere millimeters separate the three. Brew Kettle beats Fat Head's because I like White Rajah better than Head Hunter.

Personally, I'd go with Head Hunter and Juju, but I do like my hops "aggressive and uncivilized." With that being said, Bodhi is a great beer and so is super fresh Mystic Mama. I have heard great things about Hoof Hearted, but unfortunately have not yet had the opportunity to try anything from them.

I'm gonna call madtree citra high the best ipa I've ever had out of Ohio but the only one I've tried from them so cannot call them the best
