Can you please elaborate? My personal favorite beer of theirs (and one of my favorites in the style) was released just 3 years ago IIRC... Alchemy Hour / Chillwave. It does fall off pretty quick, but < a month old I'd put it up against almost any DIPA. I never thought their stuff was earth shattering, but they still brew some top notch stuff. Sharpshooter was a HUGE disappointment, but Eddy Fitz is still around, and as long as they continue to brew that and Chillwave, they'll be getting my money.

I always thought GL's bottled beers had a weird flavor so I generally stick to draft.

I still think chillwave tasted great this year along with Ba blackout, aside from those two beers they have really fallen off

So I picked up a half-growler of Hubris at Heinen's.. yes, this is an excellent DIPA worthy of the hype IMO.. it's definitely in the same ballpark as all of the great DIPAs in Ohio/USA..

Does anyone happen to know of any Blushing Monk sitting around on shelves in the Columbus area? I just opened one this weekend and thought it was fantastic; I'd like more.

So went to Fat Head's (N. Olmsted) today and tried Sunny D and Hop Fro (also got JuJu because how can you pass that up?!) and then got a growler fill of their Four Roses Bourbon Barrel-Aged Hippy Sippy.....WOW!! One of the best BA Stouts I've had in a long time. Absolutely amazing beer! Anyone else try this yet?

Roller Blabe taste like straight pineapple juice - which is scary for 8% ABV. I might need to pick some more up once it hits distribution.

Roller Blabe isn't going to hit distort. Tap room only per the brewers/owners.

I used to love Monster and Chillwave but they just taste so bad to me now. This year's Lake Erie Monster legitimately made me feel sick after each bottle I couldn't even finish the four pack. Nothing from them does it for me anymore. If it wasn't for those pretzel bites and pretzel chicken at the restaurant I'm not sure I'd find myself drinking any of their beers or ever going back. It's sad really because thats where I traditionally went each year for dinner on my birthday but I could hardly choke down the two beers I got there earlier this summer when I was last there. Just don't care for any of their brews nowadays. Their Christmas Ale tastes like crap to me now too. Also not to be a beer snob, but it also seems like Christmas Ale has really started drawing in all the budlight, miller light, etc drinkers out there. Kind of speaks for itself on the quality.

Winerak in Zanesville still has a couple on the shelf. I'll check for sure on Wednesday to tell you how many, but I want to say at least 2.

BA blackout is still the best beer that comes out of this state, for years now. They do a great job of being consistent for how many barrels they sell.

Did this change? I tweeted them about 2 weeks ago and they said it should hit Cappys same as south of eleven.

Maybe they meant musk. Trevor said they were going to do taproom only.

Your palette changed. Those beers have always been that way.

OK tough guy, you've been drinking craft beer for 2-3 years and now you're an elitist? This attitude sucks, plain and simple - craft beer needs "bridge" or "gateway" beers so that new people can get into it, much like you did a few years ago and the rest of us did before you. Can't start your average new craft drinker off with BA stouts, sours and DIPA's. Also, there have been crossover drinkers of Christmas Ale since it was first bottled; this is nothing new at all and has nothing to do with the "quality" of the beer. Maybe think before you post, and then still don't post.

I disagree. Lake Erie Monster and Chillwave were not nearly this bad when they came out a few years back and it seems many on here have mentioned similar notions. Has my palate changed? I'm sure it has. However that's not the reasoning behind this. Their beers are not the same. I'm not sure where your getting 2-3 years. It's been a little over five. I'm not considering myself an elitest. I understand you need beer to bridge the gap between macro and craft (basically my whole post stated this when I said GL got me into craft). I'm just saying Christmas Ale seems to be the only GL beer of choice among heavy domestic drinkers. I don't see them reaching for any of their other options, just Christmas Ale. Maybe I'm wrong, but I've noticed it a lot. I have plenty of friends myself who don't care for craft beer for taste or cost reasons but every year when xmas ale comes out they flock to it like it's the holy grail.
