New to Ohio (2016)

Danklin wasn't available as of about 7:05 last night. Mother in law grabbed me growlers of Headshrinker and the 3 floyds collab though.

 

Yeah I stopped in around 7:30 yesterday and was pretty bummed Danklin was gone. The FFF collab was fantastic though. To me it had a flavor profile similar to Gumballhead but with the bitterness of an IPA. Loved it. The APA they had on tap was alright, nothing special.

 

I've noticed the brewpub doing weird things with limited beers. I remember going up the day after St. Patty's after work to get some super juicy Juju and they said they were all out...then it's back on the following morning.

It was on the menu yesterday but they didn't have it tapped last night around 8:00. She told me it will be back on today which makes no sense to me. Why wait to tap it in the morning? Why not just do it as soon as the first one ran out? I've also noticed the ABV's listed on the menu are drastically different than what is listed on the board above the tap handles for a number of beers which seemed odd.

 

Not till next week I believe (at best given the normal Founders distro lag time here)

 

I was dranklin the Danklin last night at the tap room. Hasn't kicked.

 

Likely one person is in charge of inventory and curating the tap list.

This is pretty common practice to tap new items during the morning after reconciling previous draft sales.

 

This is a HUGE peeve of mine. I hate being "lied" to, and it has happened multiple times at the FH NO location... One reason I have been not going as much in general, I get sick of those practices. If it's available, have it on. Don't lie to people spending their money at your brewery/bar.

One day they had a beer on tap I wanted and people had it in the afternoon. I got there a few hours later and was told it's not on for a few more days. Huh? Then guess what... Next day it was on. I mean come on. Same thing with Juicy recently... Told they kicked the keg "two days ago" yet MANY people were checking it in all day long. That's fine if you are out, but don't lie to me. Next morning of course, it was back on.

I just get sick of playing those games. Or the "5pm tapping!" at the taphouse when the place opens at 4pm... What the hell is up with that hour you can't have it on and ready to go? Don't get it... lol

 

Actually kind of excited about this. I really enjoyed Hoppin Frog's Rum Barrel Aged Boris.

 

They aren't lying to anyone, but the FH's NO location updates their list in the morning and that's it.

The Taphouse is much worse at updating and you best call or look at social media.

In both places, most of the people are a bit "flakey", but generally nice and helpful.

 

In my experience I dont think FH is lying as much as the information / delivery of information is inconsistent. I've called, been told they had something and then they were out. I was mildly annoyed but didnt get the feeling I was being intentionally lied to.

 

I was just at Hoppin Frog on Tuesday and they told me Wayne had visited. Now I know what beer it is! Very excited. All I knew initially is that it had licorice in it.

Yellow Springs Brewery Anniversary 3 released this week. Citra and Amarillo DIPA. It's delicious.

 

^Thats a brewery I've been meaning to get to for a while now.
Gotta make the supreme effort this summer.

 

Going to be going through Cincy on Sunday, any Galaxy High around?

 

Kind of a random question, but has anyone seen Southern Tier Mokah around in the Cleveland area? I believe it is usually released in April.
