Welcome! Now hit up Home Depot this morning for a couple 6x6's and start to reinforce your front porch. Trust me. Cheers!
Opened another HF brew from @beluga92. The cover paper didn't hold up in the cooler on the trip to the game so this one wasn't a blind tasting. Another homerun from HF. Thanks again for the awesome box.
@Elneenee great, welcome! @jschott75 I thought Arthur was good but a bit floral for me, glad you enjoyed it.
Had one of my anniversary beers from @NickyPogs last night. Liked it! Pepper was strong in the back end, but nice. Not like habanero sculpin! Glad to finally try a beer in the planet series. Thanks Nick!
Choo Choo Choo Choo - EZ like train coming through. Haven't grazed over this way for a minute due to lots of work but great job in getting Round 5 going @jonbonfondle , looking forward to it. I haven't missed a round yet so why start now? I'm IN !!!! Already started. My target will have 6 buzz-worthy days to enjoy and if my target does a good job of listing lots of wants, they will drink 100% wants And there will be Gin Gins to eat for sure. Going to miss you this one dude.... Welcome! I love nerds!! Welcome! I think @Elkevjoe and @Elneenee just want to double up on tasty brews! (I don't blame them!)
We're at about the halfway point with sign-ups. There are 26 participants so far, but we can do better! Round 1 and 2 had the most Newbies with 28 participants, and surely this will be the best round yet (hell, we even had a Local jump on this round). So sign up! I'm going to close down sign-ups next Wednesday at Noon CST, and hope to have targets sent out that evening. Quick sanity check, here's who I have signed up so far. If your name isn't on the list and should be (or vice versa), please let me know! Waiting on a couple BMs to make things official, but those individuals are included in this list: @azuelke WI @BartS CA @beluga92 MA @brightcloud313 MI @CBrodbeck FL
Thanks for posting this list along with the states @jonbonfondle ! Helps me update wants. Come on lurkers...we can hit 30 participants. Just 4 more!
Here is my attempt at a fully randomized LIF, trying something new here. Your guess will be a number between 00 and 99. You will be trying to guess the two decimal numbers of the closing level of the S&P500 Index on Thu Sep 22nd as reported by Yahoo Finance that Thu afternoon (the first and only two decimals that are listed after the full 4 numbers). This way, the winner will be known to me same time as to everyone else, complete randomness. Can't pick the same number as anyone else. Also, no tie breakers; instead, in case of a tie, the winner is the pick below the actual index closing level. This LIF closes Tue night, Sep 20th, two days ahead, so there is no way to predict anything, all random. Just reply with the number in 00-99 range and reference my name. After that, you don't have to think about it - I'll post the winner and will ship Mon 26th. Accuracy bonus: The box will be 8 bottles, but if you come within 7 digits it will be 9 bottles, and within 3 digits or less - 10 bottles. Here is another twist: you can semi-customize your LIF box in two ways: 1) Deciles choice - lower deciles (00s-30s) will be tilted towards sours and IPAs - the lower your number, the more I'll try to customize towards those two styles. Higher deciles (70s-90s) will be stouts, barleywines and similar. Not all of it, but a good portion. If you pick between high 40s and low 60s, your box will be fairly balanced out on styles. 2) Last digit choice - this will correspond to geography. While the box will have a northern California base, odd number for the last digit means as much Oregon stuff as I can find. Even number for the last digit means southern California, to the best of availability. I'll avoid national distro beers and either dig deep in my stash or hit some reliable shops for this. Example: If your number is closest to the closing level, a 16 pick gets you SoCal heavy IPAs and sours, while 83 gets you as many Oregon stouts, porters and barleywines as I can swing. Some of the box will be local stuff potentially not matching your style picks, but you get the point. Open to anyone from prior Newbie rounds, all intended round 5 participants and very much to @oldmetalguy who many of us hope joins us in future rounds. Cheers!
I love the creativity of this one, nothing quite like posting a thinker at 10:30 (EST) Thanks for the opportunity, I'll go with 88!
