I'll take a guinness in that battle.
I can see how it could be pretty tedious for the batch sizes breweries produce. Maybe there's a better way to do it than by hand, but if most of them are doing it by hand, that's a LOT of beer bottles. Otherwise, I'd assume it's an expensive investment to automate waxing.

In 2010, I think they limited it to 3 or 4 bottles of Dark Lord per person and saw something like 8,000 people in attendance. At low estimates, that's 24,000 bottles hand dipped. Good thing it wasn't just one guy stuck on the waxing line!
