Maybe not as creative as the others, but I still say Conehead is the best looking can I've seen. Simple, classic and a good representation of the brand and beer.

New Glarus Brewing Company...oh wait I thought we were nominating WORST labels.

That said, I really do like Drekker's labels. I've always like Half Acre too.

No mention of Collective Arts or Clown Shoes? What madness is this? And for new up and comers, I have to give a nod towards Unseen Creatures.

C'mon, man, get hip. They're way too tasteful - no zombies, no monsters, no toilet humor, a mere 2 colors used. WTF! There is a woman in the picture but does she have huge, partially-exposed breasts? Who can tell!? Plus the labels have legible font so that you can read the brewery and brand name and the ingredients. What sort of cartoonist did they get to draw that! Those will never appeal to adolescent boys at all!

There's only one brewery that does what you're describing and does it in a very enjoyable way for me. I won't even mention them because the opposite is so overlooked in these threads that it's ridiculous. I basically don't bother anymore. Against my better judgement, I will say that my favorite looking package from what's available on a store shelf is still probably this:

I picked the perfect version of it for the pic. A big bottle with the Trappist ring above the glass shoulder and a cork cage - that's the best canvas for the shape of the popping Westmalle Tripel label. As good as it gets.

I'll go with Ballantine/Mickey's for the best artwork ON TOP of a bottle for bottle cap riddles.

You gotta give Adroit Theory credit - their website tagline is "Consume Life / Drink Art". And their art is exquisite:

(And their beer ain't bad either!)

S&P (owner Falstaff, Pearl, General and eventually Pabst) called those puzzles on the inside of Ballantine caps "Crown Ticklers". In the old, pre-internet days (1970s-1980s) you could write to them and they'd sent you a lousy mimeographed page of the answers.
They used them on many of their numerous brands (the 3 above, as well as Lucky, Pearl, Haffenreffer, and others I don't recall). Somewhere along the line The Lion (Wilkes-Barre, PA) also used them on their brands.

No. 172 was the reason I mailed them for the answer sheet - NOBODY could ever figure out this one. (Altho', blown up like this, someone might. Or someone who remembers my previous posts on the topic  )

Really? Not a single mention of Tired Hands? Come on, that artwork is amazing, and so instantly identifiable.

Personally, I love minimalism, and for me, my personal favourite might be Side Project, just for how neat and clean the labels are. For an artsy approach though, I have to give it to Cantillon. Those labels are just beautiful.

The Unbridled Unicorn can is the best looking can I have seen in this thread. You could identify that can from 20 ft away. It is not just a wash of primary colors.

Agree it's a great looking can! It's from the other side of Australia and not seen any of their stuff locally so never seen how it stands out in a fridge. I imagine it would be pretty striking for the reasons you note.

    Cheers

I’m surprised nobody mentioned Mikkeller yet. I love anything that Keith Shore creates. If you’re a also a fan, I recommend following his Instagram. He’s been making limited run interpretations of Topps baseball cards from the 1950s-90s. They’re amazing and bring me back to my childhood collection.

Oxbow also has fantastically well designed labels. Their use of fonts and negative space is outstanding.

Modern Times Ultra Set 2020 labels are gorgeous as well. I’d like to know who the printmaker was that created these.
