A recent tasting of The Bruery Fruet takes me back to a tasting of Old Stock Ale Cellar Reserve a few months ago. I realized that every bottle I have seen online is a 2009 vintage. Was this a one time release? Was it a beer North Coast cellared themselves for a couple of years before releasing? Will it be released again?

Any info explaining the vintage and it's release is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers.

No, they did both a brandy and bourbon cellar reserve 2005 vintage. They took the 05 and in the most recent release a 2009 vintage and aged them in the respective barrels for (I think) two years.

i hate how ahead of their time they are in terms of pricing. it sits on the shelf at the price they list it at, but it eventually gets bought because it's spectacular.

Great beer and still on the shelves here. It's lost a little bit I the bite that I Really liked about it when I first tried it but that is probably to be expected.

Still a goodbit around here due to pricing, but it's worth the $24.99 they ask. Great beer.

I, unlike many of the above posters, did not find the beer to be worth the $24-$30 asking price. It was okay, but the mouthfeel was overwhelmingly carbonated and the flavor profile was simple. Was it worth a try if you can find some at a reasonable price/join a BA for a tasting of hist? I suppose. Was it worth the high price most retailers are demanding? Not in my opinion.

Agreed. The '05 Bourbon I had about a month back was impressive enough to make me consider buying another '09, which I found rather disappointing on release.

09 is pricey but I felt totally worth it. Hard to find here, but a nice treasure when you do.

There's still a good sized cache of the 2009 here. It's totally worth the $22/bottle price. I need to put more in the cellar. It's going to be a beer that will stand up for a long time to come.

I too take for granted this will be on the shelf forever. I made the same mistake with Bourbon Barrel Abominable just this week :slight_frown: I need some more OT hours...

Around Atlanta we still have PLENTY of it, I keep waiting for a lottery win to buy a case or two. North Coast Grand Cru seems to be everywhere too, and recently one place put them on blowout at $6.59 a bottle. I stocked up on that.
